Hi all

this is the first time I’ve ever used a forum so here goes.

I’m having starting problem.

when the key is turned it wants to start, it catches revs to about 1000 revs then cuts out after a second after catching.

The first problem arose the day before with a pop whilst driving. After that it drove, lacked power and spluttered around 2000 revs.

I continued my drive to work and back home (about 34 miles).

Next morning it wouldn’t start

The pipe on the drivers side just behind the radiator had come off, I have since replaced the pipe but still have the same problem.

any ideas?

thanks in advance

could well be the EGR valve clogged solid, or pipe split or even turbo veins clogged,  at worst it could be fuel pump shredding its cam and filling fuel system up with metal particles which will block and ruin injectors resulting a big bill £2k to replace everything and flush complete system as I had to do recently i hope its not that for you see other posts on this forum regarding these mentioned faults you may get similar symptom reports and or remedies.

Hi. Thanks for the advice.

its a 2.2 sport premium. 9and there’s 1/2 tank of diesel in.

Hi Ross,

At a guess, it could be the injectors, or an electrical problem.

Does the engine amber light come on?   If you have a OBD2 Code reader it will give you a diagnostic code. It could also be the fuel pump.

It may be that you will have to get a good mechanic to look at it.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Ross,

Which pipe was this and what type?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi all

thanks for your feedback. I got a mobile mechanic out today.

He had to tow it to get it started and then it ran rough billowing black smoke.

He drove it a bit (revving it a lot) and came back. Plugged in his diagnostics again, cleared the errors,

‘now it runs great again.

cheers

Nice one had a result then hope all stays well for you !!.
