I had the dreaded yellow triangle of expense flash up on my dash of my 3.0 XF-S diesel yesterday saying my brake pads need replacing. Has anybody got any ideas of how much I should be expecting to pay for pads (front and rear) or pads and discs (again, front and rear). Also, any idea how many miles I can ignore it for? I need to get it checked to see if it's just one set or 2, and whether it's just pads or pads and discs, so am just asking so as not to fall off my chair (Jaguar want £385 for one set of pads and discs (that does include VAT!!).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,

Mac

Hi

Try MTEC brakes they seem Ok  https://www.mtecbrakes.com/brake-discs.html

or SNG BARRATT https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/English/FindParts/Families

or british parts https://www.britishparts.co.uk/jaguar-parts-c11

but places like europarts use good quality parts as well https://www.eurocarparts.com/

cheers

Joe

My local garage in Wellingborough have just quoted me £265.00 for front end Brembo discs and pads including fitting, which didn't seem too bad.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi mike,

I recently had my break pads done, I went for the MTEC sport pads for the front and MINTEX for the rear. I would never go to Jaguar direct because they rip you off in labour costs.

I paid £65 for the front and rear set and when I went to my local garage ‘Jag care Portsmouth’ I only needed the front pads replacing. They charged me £55 to fit the front pads and they even fixed a dodgy break sensor wire for free.

Hope this helps your decision. Really happy with MTEC but saying that you can’t go wrong with BREMBO

regards

Had the Brembo discs and pads fitted and all is back to normal, no more wheel shake, nice and progressive so all is well in the world (except I'm now skint this month!)

Cheers,

Mike

ive just had this myself went to main dealer and quoted £183 for front pads only + £37 for pad sensor for my xfs , for the same overall I would have paid at the main dealer for the front pads and pad sensor I have managed to get brembo front + rear brake pads , front and rear pad sensors , mtec drilled and grooved front discs.

pads and pad sensors from eurocarparts and the discs from mtec website

Thanks very much for your responses. I went to the mtec website and priced the whole lot up a lot cheaper than quoted by Jag for just one set. I visited a local garage and they checked my pads, and said the rear ones were worst but still have at least 25% left, so reckon it is the brake wear harness has probably worn through on the edge of the disc. He'll fit the new sensor for a few quid - result.

So, next question, is how do I remove the constant warning until I get the harness  - any ideas greatly appreciated.

Cheers again.

Mac
