Hi all, I have an x type with an iffy gear knob{the button on the back is missing} and i have to fiddle about to put it into drive. My question is how do i remove the gear knob to replace with a new one, cheers...Steve...

Hi

I assume there the same as the S-type and should screw on and off

there a chrome tapered piece underneath which acts like a lock nut

I changed mine and it took some taking off as it had locktight on it, which made it tight to remove, but eventually cam off

cheers

Cheers Joe, No it's completely different to the S type, these have a toggle switch in the knob which have to be pressed to select drive , and it's the toggle switch that has gone

hi

looks like you have a late type

all earlier auto's and manuals were screw on

knowing jaguar there bonded on and may not be a serviceble part

might be the whole mechanism

maybe some will know on here

cheers
