X-type key fob issue

Featured Replies

My keyfob has stopped working, new battery fitted but still no good. Any ideas?

Hi Jeremy and Welcome to the Club,

Have you re-programmed the fob to work with the car? This is sometimes necessary and the method is explained in the owners manual - if you do not have this you can usually download from the web and if you search on this forum you can find links to it.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Steve

PS I found the link below to a post from another contributor which includes a link to a 'how to video'.

If it's the same as my 08 model then you turn the key to position 1 then flip it back and forth between position 1 and 2 four times.  It should beep or ping. When you hear this remove the key and press any button.  If it pings or beeps this indicates a successful pairing.

If the fob refuses to pair you can get new circuit boards for various prices from a well known auction site.  I paid £18 for mine and so far it works beautifully.

Did the new circuit boards require coding with jaguar IDS/SDD software?

I have ordered new boards for mine and am interested to know.

No coding required. I just installed and paired and they worked just fine.
