Hi everyone,

Thought I would introduce myself as I'm a virgin Jaguar owner!

Won a blind eBay auction last week on a 56 plate X Type Estate 2.0D SE and hopefully I have done ok...

I'll be trawling through the forums over the next few weeks I'd imagine to sort out a few of the niggling issues :)

Welcome to the club, Adam.

The x type estate 2.0D is a very sturdy workhorse when you need one, and the engine is a well tested Ford engine.

I would get it checked out by a good mechanic, or the AA or RAC who should probably highlight any issues.

It is also worth checking the MOT history  ---  just look up the registration number of the Free App   Vehicle Smart   which out to give you a good start.

Enjoy the Jaguar Experience,

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks Peter 🙂

I had a chance to look over it a couple of weekends ago with my Mechanic who says all appears to be in order. We replaced a few filters, and checked/topped up the relevant fluids etc. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the EGR valve had recently been renewed and both front coil springs! Also replaced the N/S/R wheel bearing as it had a horrendous drone, and chucked on new rear discs and pads while I had it apart...

I've noticed a few quirks so far though which I'll get round to looking at:

1. Very annoying rattle from the bottom corner of the drivers dash area - is slowly aggravating me each morning while driving through town haha!

2. Rear Parking Sensors seem to be dead to the world, no initiation tone or subsequent beeps while reversing?

3. One slightly lazy injector - although I'm planning on running another cleaner additive through the system this week (we chucked one in a couple of weeks ago, and seemed to improve things)

4. Instrument cluster gauges dropped to zero and the words 'Cruise Control Unavailable' flashed up last week - no occurrences since?

5. Rear wiper seems to make a loud 'clunk' sound when initiated but doesn't move?

6. Cigar lighter in front ash try doesn't appear to work, although I haven't tried the one in the boot yet?

Thanks,

Adam 🙂
