"Restricted Performance" Part 2

Featured Replies

Been to the garage and they said it could be the Mass Air Flow Sensor. They had one in stock and tried it alternately on each side (there are two) but the warning kept coming up. They want to try changing both sensors for new ones. Do you think that will help?

BTW I read that if you disconnect the wiring loom connector with the engine running, the engine should cut out if the sensor is working correctly. I tried it on mine and the engine stayed running, implying that one or both sensors are faulty. Does that sound correct?

hi

do you know what the obd fault code was

the engine running with no maf is normal, it uses default parameters and runs with restricted performace

what engine is it, is it diesel with 2 mafs

cheers

Hi Joe,

They didn't tell me what the obd fault code was. But my car is a 2.7d with 2 mafs. I hope that helps.

Cheers,

Nick

hi

if the codes are pointing to the mafs and swapping them does not cure it

the faults could possibly wiring to the mafs,

maybe worth checking the continuity of the wiring between the ecu and both mafs to check the wiring ok

hope there using jaguar software to read the fault codes as some generic code readers give wrong codes and end up giving you misleading faults codes

cheers

Thanks Joe,

The trouble is, there are no Jaguar specialists anywhere near me. Plenty of ordinary garages with snap-on readers but that's it.

I'm still waiting on one garage to fit both mafs but they've yet to get back to me. Viewing some Youtube videos, it looks like a job I could do myself. Am I right?

All the best,

Nick
