I am currently looking at buying a 3 or 4 year old xf. I have a daily commute of approximately 30 miles, all country roads. Would love to get a 3 litre but unsure of fuel consumption. Can someone please tell me the true fuel figures I can expect if driven sanely. Thanks in advance

Hi Neil

i have the Mk1 3 litre and I do a mix of regular roads and motorway and currently getting 36mpg, which isn’t bad considering my wife’s 2.0 litre Kuga is averaging 41mpg.

Hi Neil

I have 2014 3.0 V6 D.

I would have to agree with the above post of around 36 mpg. This for me is a 80 mile commute each day on A and B roads including a 4 mile school run in heavy traffic.

If I take it easy I get around 44 mpg.

If it just does runs in and out the city/school runs with heaters on etc I’m looking at 29 mpg.

Often I’ll drive to Cornwall which is an 806 mile round trip and it’ll average at 52 mpg.

If you’re on a motorway or carriage way with cruise control on at 75 mph for a good amount of time I’ve had 56 mpg. I’d always recommend cruise control as takes away the danger of hitting that accelerator down.

Reality is though is that engine is an absolute beast and you wanna hear it roar.
