Got a split in plastic tank of intercooler.can I araldite it for repair or is it a complete new intercooler required

yes its a new intercooler and its a common problem on early cars and especially if its been mapped

sure later intercoolers were revised to cure this issue

The intercooler, or charge air cooler as it is also known as, is purely to reduce the temperature of the air / fuel mixture going into the engine.

This results in a denser fuel / air mix, so increasing the power output of the engine.

So long as you get a good air-tight repair, I would go down the Araldite path, and cross my fingers.

The pressure in the charge air cooler, is delivered by the turbocharger, and is quite high, so maybe strengthening the 

repair with metalic elements would be advisable.
