Reverse light switch location

Hi I'm a new member and have a 03 s type 2.5 petrol automatic, and I'm having trouble finding out were the reverse light switch is located. Also if it's easy to replace it myself, I've been told it's inside the gearbox and will cost&600 to take gearbox out and replace it...any suggestions much appreciated...mark


The reverse switch is only fitted to manual transmission cars.🙂

I'm sure the auto has a reverse switch aswell, its on the side of the gearbox

but just checked the manual and it looks like it may be done through software

I Thought that but if you look at bottom of page is says manual gearbox, auto does not have it

That’s what I said in my first post and why I posted the two page numbers to confirm it. To clarify, according to the electrical manual, the manual transmission has a reverse switch fitted and the auto box does not.
