Windscreen washer opens glove box

Featured Replies

Hi

2011 Xf pre facelift screen washer  button opens glove box and poor stream to windscreen. I have read previous posts on similar issues and understand water ingress may be a problem. I checked the central junction box in footwell for signs of corrosion but all okay on C5 connector. Also getting spurious errors about parking brake fault/gearbox/no DSC. Could this be a battery problem?

Thanks for any advice

Yeah I had them problem s so I brought a bigger battery for the and they went away

Hi Tom,

The  XF i had would flash up all kinds of errors - gear box, brake etc but that was due to the fact i was not driving it much.

Took it for 30 min run and they would disappear.

Do you leave your XF standing during the week may be?

Best Regards,

Julie,

Thanks for the quick replies. It is used most days and been on long runs of 300 miles recently. It was the screen washer opening the glove box that concerned me most. Could that be caused by a battery on the way out? I have had the car 5 years and not replaced it.

So I replaced the battery (after eventually freeing the locking bolt). However issues remain.

Parking brake failure errors, screen wash opens glove box, DSC error, gearbox, etc.

Car drives fine and sometimes the errors clear for a short while. Rechecked CJB and no sign of corrosion for the 2 loom plugs/sockets.

Hi Tom,

The only thing I can suggest is taking it for a diagnostic, may be a short / broken wire  may be a relay ( are they all pushed in ? making a good connection)

Sorry I cant help further, may be one of the other members can.

Kind regards,

Julie.

Does sound like some faulty wires somewhere, may detect with diagnostic or may need to do a wire trace to locate the issue.
