Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to your forum and I hope someone can help me. I am getting blue smoke coming from under the bonnet, it appears to be coming from low down on the left hand side of the engine where the turbo is located, I took it to a local garage where the put the car on a ramp and spotted a loose collar? part of the turbo, they tightened it and this appeared to cure the problem, however a week later the problem has resurfaced with a strong smell of hot diesel. Has anyone else had this problem or has anyone got any ideas to resolve it. Hoping someone can help. Thanks.

Welcome to the group Brent.

I was always of the understanding that:

Black Smoke = Fuel Issues

White smoke = water issues

Blue smoke = Oil issues.

I guess the garage sorting out the loose collar may have helped the blue smoke, but still seems a very strange place to see blue smoke appear from. Blue smoke and a smell of diesel is quite concerning. Didi you take the car to a dealer or a local garage?

Brent, Welcome to the Forum. You mention Blue Smoke and Turbo. The two could well be connected could. Turbo could be on its way out, possibly bearings, seals. Most of which could lead to blue smoke from that area. As for smell of diesel, can you trace any diesel leaking from anywhere?

Best Wishes and Regards, John

Thanks for your reply and apologies for my late one (not been very well, but on the mend now). It would appear that fixing the collar has cured the problem, no more smoke and no more smell. I took it to my local garage who I have used for years, they are very capable and trustworthy. Again thanks for your reply.
