batteries in remote controls

Featured Replies

Fellow Jaguar owners----just cured my problem on my 2005 Jaguar S type 4.2 with 21000 miles.  Vehicle would start and then shut off.  Bought a scanner for jaguar (131.00) plus replaced the interia switch and fuel filter.  Still not start.  Batteries tested good in Remotes.  Anyway thought I would replace batteries with top of the line Sony batteries.  Problem solved.  Vehicle did not read code from the remotes and went to thief mode and shut engine off.   My suggestion-------replace batteries every year with top of the line batteries.  Don't waste your time on cheap batteries.  It will save you a lot of time, grief, and money.

I thought I had a prob with the remote a few months ago, pulled it apart but could see no battery. put it back together it was fine, put it down to contacts. In 3 yrs we have done nothing with ours all OK. I read somewher that both remotes (keys) should be used regularly to keep them charged. How that works I have no Idea????

hi

the batteries in the remote have nothing to do with the imobiliser,

theres a transponder chip in each key that used to read a code so the car will start

you can remove the remote and the car will still start fine

as some cars came with a valet key just to start the car and gives no access to boot and glovebox

so if your car was cutting out, its something else, just a fluke as changing the battery cured it

cheers

Joe
