The grim Truth, *GEARBOX FAILURE & ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT*

Hi

Totally new to this,  and 100% not mechanically minded,   but i have purchased a 2009 x-type Jaguar Estate Automatic,   paid just under £2000 the car in the advert looked absolutely amazing, ive never owned one before and thought........ yeah lets give it a go,   well there is nothing more shadier than buying a car as bought as seen,  auto trader advert, for a car advertised in yorkshire,  and honestly,  the advert sounded amazing,  the car, looked amazing,  the MOT certificate looked amazing,  the promise of a six month warranty sounded.....amazing,   so me and my wife decided to buy it,  The seller was as nice as he could be,  told us he would have the delivered in 2 days,  then rang me to tell me it was actually on its way......NOW,  2 hours later i got a phone call,  your new car has arrived,  it was at the top of the street,  i was gob smacked as they took it off the car transporter and rolled it to a complete stop,   they gave the V5c , the warranty, and a  receipt for the £2000 i had just watched him count out,  shook my hand said thank you and goodbye......... and off the went,    leaving me and my wife standing there in complete awe of this little demon of a car,  so time to move it into my street and outside my house,   sat in the seat, moved the seat electronically to its fullest reach,  but was just that little bit to far for my feet, so manually tried the seat lever and tried to shuffle it up,  wouldnt budge, no matter how hard i tried, it was going nowhere,  seat belt on key in the ignition, electric mirrors set, omg im about to drive a jag.......NOT.     engine management light pops on in yellow,  then a message on the dashboard saying "GEARBOX FAILURE"   started the car carefully dropped it into drive and the CLUNK as if the gearbox had dropped,  but the car moved under my control,  but only in limp mode,      Sellers advert claimed a perfect car in every way sound engine and gear box all runs as it should, with super smooth gear shift....... nothing on the MOT to suggest any gearbox faults, so now i have a jag, that i can only wash at the weekends, it will not come out of limp mode, i have no idea why,  but more bad luck as the seller has vanished ,  th warranty does not even exist, its just a booklet from a warranty firm, who have actually told me that no car with my reg plate has been registered,   so now i am in a battle with auto trader to help get a refund which i very much doubt i will get,  totall gutted about this, as the car does look amazing no marks or scratches,  just 4 things i have found,  obviously the gearbox  failure and engine management light,  the suspension at back seems too low for the car, and if i limp over a traffic calming rubber hump or pot hole the tops of the tyres hit the top most part of the wheel arches,  the drivers seat wont budge ( but i know whats wrong, a cable has snapped under the seat connected to the pull lever, and the most shocking part is that the handbrake does not work,  needs a new cable.............  value when bought £2000   value 2 days ago £795.      so the gear box,    slipped it into drive carefully as first time id driven a Jag,  then almost like thud and a small nudge forward,   then drives ok but in limp mode.......   suggestions or thoughts other than scrap it, because i do believe its repairable,   but i need the seller to stop avoiding me and start being reasonable because i can have him done for fraud with the warranty, done for falsifying the MOT, and done under the 1979 act of selling goods not in accordance with the actual advert, (( according the C.A.B ))      do i keep it and get a partial refund and book a new MOT  or just hope for a full refund and start again,    i need the car for work, and wife needs the car as she cares for her mum , usual things, shopping, hair salon,  docs and hospital appointments ,  the trouble this has caused has been immense and bus and taxi fares are ramping up every day ,   yes i know.... i was scammed by the seller.......... gone but never forgotten
