Could anyone advise me on a potential scam by a chap in Holland wanting to buy my XJS? I have sent them my IBACS & BIN details & he is willing to pay me the asking price into my account. However, he is now saying he will add the shipping costs onto what he sends me & i will have to pay the transport company when they arrive directly. Leaving me, supposedly with my sale price.

Any advice or experiences with this would be most helpful before i commit to the sale.

Has he seen the car and driven it ? Did he give you a deposit in person? If no to any of  these I don't want to rain on your parade but it is a scam

Personally I would contact my Bank STAT and explain, as identify fraud scam may well be in hand.......

Good luck

Tell him to  deposit the money then leave your car where it is for about 2 weeks,

There are multiple aliases on the websites for scam artists, with the most popular being "Ary", but that is not the only one. Bell Wrighty Jenifer Johnson, Mio, Arthur Wilson, etc.

Any person willing to buy sight unseen and deposit additional funds has to be suspicious. Protect your bank account details ASAP.

Sounds like what used to be a very common scam in the days when I drove Subaru's ?
