2017 XF-S Brake Pads Worn - amber message

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Looking for a bit of advice, just had a message telling me that my brake pads are worn. Does anyone have an idea of how far I have left to drive before they really have to be replaced. Looking to make a trip to see in-laws before Christmas!

Cheers,

Jon

How long is a piece of string?

30 mins use on a track day maybe 500 miles gentle driving.

My view is the warning is there for a reason, to tell you it needs attention, so I would do it ASAP and drive VERY gently until it was done.

Brakes and tyres are top of my list to keep me, and everyone else safe 🙂

Regards

John

Hi Jon, I agree completely with John. I recently had the mechanic tell me that my rear pads were worn 85% and the warning message had not appeared at that point. Hence, your pads are worn further that 85%, so a change before further use is a good idea.

Hi John & Jim,

Thanks for your advice - I should have known that anyway!

It's booked-in for new (rear) pads on Thursday.

Thanks again,

Jon
