Good evening, I have had a continuous annoying rattle type noise coming from the front passenger side, the noise is worse when I go over rough road surfaces. The car has been mot鈥檇 with no problems, a Jaguar mechanic cannot find anything and an independent mechanic has also said he cannot find anything. I have had new upper control arms and yesterday I replaced the drop links, the noise is so irritating and I鈥檓 at a loss to know where to turn to next, has anyone any ideas, I鈥檓 wondering if maybe the anti roll bar bushes need replacing, has anyone done this, it doesn鈥檛 look a particularly easy diy job, and I鈥檓 not relishing paying for a mechanics time if it doesn鈥檛 solve the problem. Thanks in advance

Check the brake disc dust shield hasn鈥檛 come adrift and also any heat shields. Noise does travel and may be coming from a different area to where you think.

Hi, thanks for the reply, the dust shield is fine, maybe I鈥檓 not describing the sound correctly, it鈥檚 like a repetitive knocking when you go over a poor road surfaces聽

Have you had the sock absorber top mount checked not sure if there is a bearing on the top of the shock or just the rubber mount.may even be the collar at the top of the spring.聽聽

Hi everyone, further to my previous post I have now had new drop links fitted and anti roll bar rubber bushes, the knocking noise has certainly reduced to the point I thought it was cured, however driving today I can still hear it although greatly reduced. The jag mechanic says he has checked all joints and everything is good, but there is obviously something even my granddaughter asked me what the noise was, I鈥檓 now wondering if it could be worn brake calliper pins, has anyone any further thoughts. Many thanks聽

Had a similar problem on a peugot 206cc turned out there was a bearing sitting on top of the strut that had cracked after the previous owner hit a pothole.聽 Think from memory there is a rubber damper on the top of the strut on the jags also聽聽
