Hi just joined on here after picking up my new XF Sport on the 22nd, really impressed with it up to now, does anyone know if the fuel consumption gets better as the engine loosens up more? its the new 3.0 D Sport Portfolio with Black pack and all extras

Cheers Mick

Hi Mick.

Dont know whether the engine will loosen up much as most engines are now built to such fine tolerances that they do not need the old "running in period".

I have a 3.0 sport portfolio which is now a year old. Great car except that i have to live with the loud "Bumps and thumps" emanating from the rear.

These are caused by fuel surge when the tank is more than half full. I have been having a running battle with Jaguar over this and they say, and i quote. "these noises are are applicable to all XF cars and are an operational characteristic and are acceptable to Jaguar.

I would interested in your observations.

Hi Silverfox. I've not found any of the noises you mention, perhaps they have updated the fuel tank or you may well have a faulty tank, I would persist with your issue to Jaguar.

Never heard of this problem silverfox.I have never experienced this with my xf mind you mine is an original style model but as newer cars are usually an improvement over previous design i find your dealers explanation hard to accept.
