okay so where did the s-type find 10bhp for the v6

Now i love the 3.0 x-type, it's plenty quick enough for how i use it, the power wooshes up in silence and with the sports pack the road is navigated with tranquility and grace. BUT I want to know why the s-type got 10 more bhp and a bit more nm tourqe. I hear it my be due to heat, if so that'll lower mpg also and i can get 10hp while provoking less engine wear.

Any one have any ideas?

the 3.0 in the x-type is transverse maybe the way the intake system is designed didn't allow for  as good breathing as the s-type without issues such as overheating due to the cooling system also being restricted due to the positioning of the engine etc...

 

plus i think the s-type is a heavier car than the x-type  so to keep it on par power to weight etc... 2% more power
