Boa tarde,

I have just purchased my first Jaguar, a 2004 X-type which is like a new car having only completed 79.000km with a full service history from Jaguar Portugal where I live. You might be interested to know that for the price I paid here,13.500€, I could probably have bought 10 cars in the UK as I see on The UK's Autotrader a 2004 X-type can be bought for £1000. That is one of the downsides of living in a country that has very high car purchase taxes, but the upside is that there isn't a spot of rust anywhere and the depreciation from now on will be minimal and anyway when you get to my age its worth paying out a few extra Euros for real driving pleasure and I will save a few Euros because it's a diesel and diesel here is some 20 cents cheaper a litre than petrol!

Hi Graham,

Welcome to the forum and owning a lovely Cat.

Best regards,

Dave

Thank you Dave for your welcome, I collect the car on Tuesday from Lisboa Jaguar who have maintained the car from new which is rare here because once the Manufactures guarantee has expired, servicing can be rather spasmodic, so I am grateful to the previous owner for maintaining the service schedules. Motoring here is a real pleasuere as there is very little traffic and the motorways are now deserted since the introduction of tolls.

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the welcome. I am enjoying driving my Cat, I wish I'd bought one years ago and as its a fairly rare car where I live (have only seen one in six years!) it gets quite a lot of admiring glances from other drivers. Annoyingly, when it was parked in the Supermarket carpark, some moron has scraped their trolley along the rear bumper and I now have a nice two inch scratch. Do you know how I identify the colour, is there a paint number somewhere under the bonnet so that I can buy the right touch-up?

KInd regards

Graham

Hi Graham, I own an S-type and the paint code is a three letter one displayed inside the front passenger door jamb, I don't know if it's the same on the X-type but it's a fair bet that it is, take a look you might be lucky. If not I'm sure an X-type owner will put you right here. Best wishes Geoff.

Thanks Geoff for the response, unfortunately there is no reference number or letters where you indicated, as you say, hopefully an X-type will see the post and have the answer.

Best regards

Graham
