Dear John,

Found this info, don;t know if it's of any help. " I've read that the 2.5 and 2.7 have timing belts,
while the 3.0 has a chain. Belts, are suppose to be changed at 60 -75,000 miles, while chains you don't touch. You change timing belts, you don't touch timing chains."

Hi John,

I am inclined to agree with Trevor in respect of timing chains.  The engine on the 3 litre V6 has a timing chain [my 2.7 litre Diesel has a belt which i believe should be changed at 105,000 miles].

I have not seen anything about changing timing chains, but only about changing tensioners.  The 3 litre V6 is the same engine as on the Mazda, and you  might find something from Mazda sites.

Hi John...and welcome to the club !

I agree with Peter and Trevor....if it doesn't need replacement then don't touch it!

If you have to replace it because it is defective (e.g. stretched) then it is a major job to undertake
