Welcome to the Club, John.

I hope you get the problem fixed.

There are some very expert members who will know something about it.

HI John...and welcome to the club !

Sounds like an wheel sensor fault....has anything recently occurred, work carried out, flood waters, etc.?

It could be something as trivial as tyre pressure, or the vehicle being left for a period of time . You could try to activate the system by braking hard and see if that works . If that doesn't work why not purchase a diagnostic scanner ? ( someone will give you the link for a cheap one on E bay ) it will then give you a code, which in turn should lead to any fault which would cut down on garage bills . We have the scanner codes if you need them .

Thank u all for your replies.

I think Trevor may have found the reason.

Today is the first dry day we have had for a while and the warning light has not come on.

I do like the idea of a scanner and will look on eBay.

Thank you all (Will let u know if it reappears)

I bought a code scanner after the local Jaguar Dealer charged £69 for  plugging in the code reader and telling me what was wrong, which was fixed by giving the engine a blast.

Since then I have not needed to use it but it sits neatly in the boot.  A bit like insurance.

I hope you are using an independent garage John, and not one of the stealerships. The garage where I got the XJ Supersport from claim mine is due for a service, How they can work that out I do not know, as the car has done less than 3k since it was serviced last June. That is just one of a number of issues I have with the dealership, and I will be writing to them tomorrow to tell them I won't be using them again unless I get treated a lot better (and cheaper!) .

I have at last got the problem of the DSC NOT AVAILABLE problem.

Last week I put my foot on the brake and found it to be rather hard to put any pressure on it and when I drove into my driveway, which on a decline I had difficulty stopping the car.

I called the RAC who diagnosed a faulty Brake Servo, I therefore had to have the car taken to a local garage who quoted me about £800 to fix a new Brake servo.

After some negotiation I found a used Servo on eBay for £174.99 which was fitted and found out this fixed the problem and I do not have the warning light for DSC NOT AVAILABLE anymore.

Hope this helps
