Hi  can anyone tell me before I buy some

Will 16" wheels from a x type of the same age  fit my s type ??????

Just guessing, but I think so.  There are three different sizes of wheels available of the S Type. There seems to be no reason why Jaguar would make differing wheels for two models manufactured at the same time.

16" wheels will mean cheaper tyres

Check the offset is the same. Given that the X-Type is Mondeo based and the S-Type isn't, I expect that even if the stud fitment matches up the offset may differ, in which case the wheel won't be positioned correctly and the weight won't be distributed over the bearing evenly, which will cause premature bearing failure.

The offset is the position of the mounting face relative to the edge of the wheel. The hub face sits further in or out of the centre of the wheel depending on the requirement of the vehicle it is designed to fit. Incorrect offset will cause bearing wear and different handling issues.

Hi peter wheels all changed over , but I had to fit some 5mm wheel spacers because the front wheels hit the big calipers

I think it handles better and looks better.

my step son who is a pro racing driver said he would always go for the smaller wheels.

Thanks, Simon.  It gives me some thoughts, as I have the 18" wheels on my S type.

Regards,

Peter.
