Hi all

I'm hoping you can help .

I am after a small plastic disc that sits on the top of the cam cover at the radiator end over the vvt on a 4 litre xj8 x308 , my car is a 1998 (and so has the v v t solenoid on the front of the engine ) but the car had an engine replacement in 2004 ( not sure on date ) by a jag main dealer.

That meant it was supplied with cam covers that had a hole in the top of the cam cover for the later style vvt which had the solenoid on the top of the cam cover .

It looks like Jag supplied a blanking plate which was held in with
sealant , or not in my case ! causing my engine bay to look like a BP
disaster site .

I have rang a few garages but with no luck , does anyone know where I might get one of these from,

or has anybody ever seen this before ?

Hi Ding....welcome to the club !

I can't say I have come across a blanking plate for this application but could you not reseal it back in with silicon?

Othewise I would imagine a breakers yard for the replacement parts may be your only other option.

Thanks for your reply .

If I still had it I would :( , it fell out .

I've been in touch with a couple of garages who specialise in Jags and they have never seen a cover with a blanking plate like this before . It's looking like fitting cam covers from the earlier car may be my only fix ??

But if anyone else has seen this before it will give me some hope that I might be able to get one .

Try the David Manners group in Oldbury, Ding.

They have a good site with a parts list, and specialise in older cars, but also do have a specific Jaguar Parts section.
