    With such a low annual mileage for a Diesel I would be inclined to use an injector cleaner additive and then take it for a good long run at fairly high (but legal) speed.May be a build up of contamination caused by long standing period.

    Thanks Marty, It was a one owner and did no more than 2k a year, he had it serviced religiously with jaguar but it has stood still under its cover for 6months, I've driven it for a couple weeks and I reckon it needs a good service, fingers crossed it solves it, had a run of bad luck with cars and coud so with the x type being good for atleast 3years.
