  1. Soooo... Quick update... Took her out... RP came back... Started a more indepth investigation only to find the dreaded split induction cover on the drivers side... Spanners out.. Kettle on... Wallet empty.. 😞
  2. As the title says... What a week of issues... Intercooler burst with its last owner, replaced by an Indy somewhere in Gloucestershire (who did a shocking job of putting things back together) 3 years ago... Now its gone again - Replaced with a secondhand unit from an S Type, which is physically the same, and on the surface, a lot better engineered from the plastic welding side of things... Contacted Jaguar regarding the shoddy workmanship on a 3 year old part, only to be politely told to Foxtrot Oscar... Then i got 'Restricted Performance' again on Monday. Limped the car home, hooked up the SDD, P006-A error code - Manifold Pressure - 0 Volts at the MAP sensor, sourced a replacement from an S Type (Again) complete with the Throttle body housing, which turned out to be a good move as the original had a split in the end where it branches off into the respective inlet manifolds. Noted that the MAP sensor has been superceeded by a differently designed part . That would explain the oil slick by the filter then which i thought at first was from over zealous tightening of the filter top.... Anyway... All sorted now hopefully, sadly i have no faith in the XF now until she proves herself again when i take it out later... Could it be that i am finding Peugeot / Citroen parts in the engine bay? Probably.... I have a distinct hatred of French car parts... They need to stick to what they are good at like Garlic & fine wine... FoMoco parts i can live with as i have had Fords for years, without any inherant issues, despite the stigma around the F.O.R.D ancronym.... and i am currently working on an alternative supply list of parts that bear the FoMoco branding that will bolt straight on to save the stress of visiting a main dealer. I will post some pictures up later of the offending parts, i am sure that anyone who has suffered the same will be aware of it anyway, but the power of the masses to assist other owners should not be underestimated.. Hence the great information on Owners forums
  3. Just to resurface this topic... I've just completed the activation of Jaguar Voice on my 2010 XF. Used v130 SDD & SoftwareDownload.HTM file, edited the parameters to enable the microphone and a couple of other parameters, uploaded the CCF file and lo & behold... COMMS now appears on the home screen . No additional modules required as i first thought, i am trying the same routine on a lower spec XF at the weekend and if i remember to do so, will upload the results of that session when i have finished.
  4. One year and 4 months after my first post... Finally got Jaguar Voice enabled on my XF. Massive thankyou to Reg Graham who has been offering advice and direction via E Mail (probably at his wits end now) and pointing me in the right direction with regards to the correct kit and programs to use. I've temporarily lost Bluetooth, which i remember i had an issue connecting to when i first bought the car, but more than likely its a little bit of over excitement when uploading the new CCF file this evening...
  5. As per the title... I am having serious issues with getting SDD to read my configuration file... I have bought a Mongoose Pro cable and downloaded V131 & V138 versions of SDD. I can connect to the car, reads the VIN, but when i try and download the CCF file to the laptop i keep getting a pop up box telling me the following... I have followed instructions given by Reg.Graham (who can i add has been great with his advice) to start SoftwareDownload.htm, which is still giving me the error detailed below Software Management Wizard The network connection to the server has not been activated, all files will have to be downloaded manually via an internet enabled PC. So on and so on... If i select 'Yes' it tries (and fails) to download something... Am i being completely senior and missing something minor like a date change or another set of calibration files to download? Can someone out there help me and convince me that SDD does NOT stand for 'Seriously Debating Destruction" Thanks in advance... Alex
  6. I have a little more info for this topic, straight from the Jaguar Tech team as i have a friend who works in the R&D department @ Gaydon. As follows... "This is a very large task. What you have is the MOST Gen 2.0 system. This means you need an external Speech ECU, wiring harness as well as CCF changes. You would need the JLR Integration team to respin a CCF based on your specific VIN. My recommendation is the system is not worth the investment as even after you have done that the experience is far from natural speech - i.e. it is extremely prescriptive and very limited in functionality. I am also assuming your vehicle already has the microphone and associated harnesses." What we do know is that Jaguar Voice was a £400 option at time of order, therefore, are we to assume that its a different Sat Nav module that allows Jaguar voice? I will look into this and feed any information back to the Forum. As most of the modules in the Pre face XF are FoMoco, its based loosely on the MK4 / 5 platform, albeit with MOST networks whereas the Fords are mainly CAN. If i find anything definitive, i will let you all know
  7. I've just bought a 2009 3.0 S with the uprated B&W audio etc... What i need to find out is if the Jaguar Voice is a separate module or a case of enabling voice via a laptop. I have dealer level diagnostics at home in the form of IDS, as i have come from a Ford to the Jaguar and cut my teeth on diagnostics and module programming on Ford Denso units, Bluetooth & voice control etc. I;ve run an initial session on IDS on the Jag, but cant find the parameter for enabling Voice Control, which i thought the XF would have as standard. I have read certain forum posts over the net relating to dealers turning this option off due to issues. Therefore, can someone point me in the right direction as to whether or not its a separate module i need or to modify the CCF files to enable it. Thanks in advance Alex
  8. Just taken ownership of a 2009 3.0 S. Loved these cars since a colleague who works in Jag R&D turned up in one just after launch... I've been trawling through this forums looking at the good and the bad and its weird how many niggles and faults are still present whatever the make vehicle. I've come from a 3.0 V6 ford, which the wife now drives Looked around for a V6 petrol but couldn't find one in a spec I wanted but really not ashamed of the diesel!! I have questions regarding voice control though which I will definitely l will deliver to the appropriate forum but I am amazed about the lack of info on this net unless I'm l looking in the wrong place..
