  1. Hi Dave, Good point, thanks! I've now had it about a year, but will certainly have a chat with my friendly indie dealer where a bought it (and my previous one). Random Q... Where in Suffolk are you? Myself & SWMBO often get up to Stradbroke, visiting in-laws, maybe a pint & a chat sometime? Cheers, Jon
  2. Hi Dave, Ironically, yes - was recently hit from behind by a Range-Rover - needed a new bootlid, bumper, etc., etc. But it has never flashed since I got the car, so repairs can't be the cause? Cheers, Jon
  3. Hi all, Thanks for the input, and thanks to Frank for raising the issue, but... My XF has a red 'dome' in the center of the top of the dashboard, which is what I believe should flash (at least, it did on my previous (2011) XF!) I know the alarm is working, even passively, since having left the car unlocked for a while, all hell broke loose when opening a door (stopped by clicking the keyfob unlock button!). I'm thinking the light/LED is the problem? Cheers, Jon
  4. Hi Paul, I'm 67.5, retired about 3y ago, on my second XF-S after years and years of company cars. Highlights were an Impreza turbo, Golf VR6 and, back in the day A Calibra Turbo. Always wanted an XF - first was an impulse buy, a bit too old and needed work, but love it. got my current one (2017 xf-s, loaded with toys, but sadly, no cooled seats). Right now, can't think of anything I'd like to replace it with - and, as you say, certainly not electric (yet!). Let's see what the future brings! J
  5. Hi Paul, Sorry to hear your bad news, although also relieved to hear of the improving outcome. Your posts/replies are always insightful. Take care of yourselves! Very best wishes, Jon
  6. Hi Frank, This is something that has mystified me since I got my 2017 XF-S. Previous XF (2011) flashed as expected, I have to assume that the alarm is armed. Hopefully, some of our more knowledgeable friends on here will have some insight! Fingers crossed! Jon
  7. Hi All, Not a huge problem, but annoying nonetheless... When I plan a route on my PC for downloading to my XF, the routing app sees may car as being in Dartford, Kent. It is, of course outside my house in Sussex! Easy enough to fix but annoying! Any ideas of how to correct it? Cheers, Jon
  8. Hi Grant, Sorry, I missed your previous post! I've bought two XF-Ss from Arun a 2011 and more recently a 2017 - I assume you've meat Duncan, Andrew and the rest of the crew there by now? I would suggest a chat with Andrew about the timing belt, etc., if you haven't done so already, although my understanding is that it isn't due for several thousand more miles. I'm just coming up to the first anniversary of getting my current one - MoT next week! Only problem I have (which will mean a chat with Andrew) is that my glowplugs are reluctant to do their stuff in cold weather - no a problem atm, of course, but need to get them (or the control module) sorted before Autumn! Enjoy your XF!!! Ceers, Jon
  9. Hi Mark, I'm on my second Jaguar - both XF-S. First one I had the rear windows tinted - was great - transformed the look inside & out, don't remember the cost, though. Second (current) one came with factory tinted back windows, I'd say go for it! Cheers, Jon
  10. Hi Sofia, I bought a 2017 XF-S last year, my second XF (first was a 2011). Only problem so far is glow-plugs not working (cold weather only!), not sure if it's the plugs or the controller, but I need to get it seen to before next winter! BTW, I'm an Essex boi too, from Tilbury, now living in Sussex, where you at? Good luck with your XF - they're great! J
  11. Hi All, Not a purely Jaguar question, but looking for a bit of advice... Returning recently from a trip to Ireland, my XF-S was rear-ended at a roundabout in Wales. The other driver has accepted responsibility and repairs are about to begin (phew!). My question arises from the fact that the MoT is due to expire shortly, so what happens if the repair isn't completed before it expires? Am I allowed to drive it for its test? Thanks for your thoughts! Cheers, Jon

    car wax

I agree with Craig - ceramic coating is the way forward! I'm now running my second XF, had both coated, current one is really dark blue metallic (Loire Blue?), always looks great! J
