XE Engine Tuning
Hi Mark, you have probably made up your mind by now but for what it's worth you would probably find the 180 diesel with its 50 plus mpg to be perfectly adequate power wise, dynamic and sports mode will get rid of most turbo lag. To chip the engine would almost certainly give you a higher performance but the cost would be to invalidate any warranty, your insurance premium would rocket ( if you could find an insurer) also I have chipped several cars in the past, ALL of them would on occasion simply cut out without any warning whatsoever when accelerating hard. A rare occurence but they all did it once or twice, it aint funny when overtaking traffic.

I have to agree with Tom, I had an MG once and ruined the paintwork within about a week after covering it with a car cover when I went sailing, a windy week but the car came out looking as if it had been sandblasted. I have an XE and do an intermediate oil change every 10,000 miles.

Buying my first XE
Bought a 2016 XE AWD in 2019 and had no bother with it at all, the performance from the 2.0l 180 diesel is good without being outstanding, the economy is outstanding 50+ mpg. Not really a car for the home mechanic, unless you are a bit of an electronics wizard but as Nigel correctly says driving this car always puts a smile on your face.

Not so new member with a new car
Nice looking car and the 163 should be very economical, I have the 180AWD and often wonder how they managed to get that amount of power from so little fuel.

Valuation surprise !!
No the figures are about what I would have expected, the new buyer always takes the biggest hit. I could not afford to buy a new Jag and change it every two years like some people do but even if I could I really can't see the logic in it.

Does Jaguar not develop their cars fully?
I wouldn't worry too much about your Jag, I have had a 2016 XE for two years now with no issues whatsoever, a friend who bought a Merc about the same time has been plagued with electronic problems, describes her car as a dreadful car. I have a big, old, fast motorbike and a Jag, one thing they have in common is the ability to put a grin on my face.

Couldn’t open car with fob
I have a 2016 XE AWD there is a manual opening button in a rubber shroud between the rear camera and the number plate light, I take it you either do not have this button or it does not work, button is quite well hidden. Sorry if I am just stating the obvious.

Def/add blue filling
The vehicle information menu in the message centre will tell you how far you have to go before needing DEF fluid, I wait until A low fluid warning appears on the dashboard then just add 5 litres since I have no idea how big the tank is in the XE. This will last several thousand miles.

Pokin my nose in
Hi John, Most of my life I have had Land Rovers and other rather agricultural vehicles, for the most part I have always done my own maintenance and repairs without any major hiccups so am reasonably mechanically competent. I now have a Jaguar XE and would not dare to do any more than routine maintenance to it, being completely baffled by the electronic wizardry. I doubt if many modern cars will be diy projects any more. I still love the Jag.

Remapping 2.2D
I have never remapped a jag, I once made the mistake of having a previous car remapped before I checked with my insurance company, when I did tell them they told me they would cancel my insurance if I did not undo the remapping. I got insurance elsewhere but at a much higher premium.There is no doubt it boosted performance significantly.

Welcome Tony, You must have an Inspector Morse type of Jaguar, a real classic, it doesn't have all the fancy electronics that can cause so much trouble with a modern Jag. A nice car.
