Jaguar XF ceramic brake pads
May be playing "Devils Advocate" but there is and has been for many many years a thread of thought that copper grease should not be used on wheel nuts. It is/has been suggested that the nuts can be overtightened due to the effect of the copper grease. Going back a few years (I am almost 72) it was never ever used on wheel nut threads because of the problem of over torqueing the nuts and fear of causing hydraulic affect in domed wheel nuts. The favoured approach was to thoroughly clean all oils, grease etc from the thread and keep them dry. The HGV industry is always warning that wheel threads should not be greased and always re-torqued after a few miles of use when wheel nuts have been newly re-fitted. I know the HGV industry and automobiles (cars) are totally different technology but the principal is the same in both. I am not offering a definitive statement, just offering a different point of view. Best Wishes and Regards, John

FUEL FILLER COVER NOT LOCKING
Jim Many thanks, looks as though these have been subject to warranty in the past. Drawing one: the part does not exist on my replacement part. However Drawing two: the part does exist on my replacement part. Was going to fit this part tomorrow so will check again before doing so. Thank you, Best Wishes and Regards, John

THE generic "Supermarket Petrol" , what is the truth.
Thanks for all replies. I feel I will be happier keeping to NOT using Supermarket Fuel. I like the comment about pensioners using all of their income running S Types. I certainly concur with that one. Best Wishes and Regards, John

Headliner for my Jag xjs
James Plenty of new headliners on Ebay for your XJS and including a fitting service based in Preston. Yes, a fair old trip but depends on your dexterity with fitting the new one yourself. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=headliner+for+jaguar+xjs&_sacat=0 Good Luck and Best Wishes, Regards, John

FUEL FILLER COVER NOT LOCKING
Peter The removal was not easy, or more to the point is in a very awkward and hard to access place. I do have a CD of the Jaguar Workshop Manual and likewise I searched looking for information and also found nothing was forthcoming. For the sake of urgency I have purchases from a dismantler who had been very helpful to me in identifying where/how to get to the Actuator . The only fault on the removed Actuator is that a very small piece of the end black push bar has broken off. I will at least have a spare that I can fiddle with if ever necessary, as it could well be possible, if one had the patience, to rebuild this end piece. At almost 72 years I am (unfortunately) not known for my patience with fiddly little things like this. However I am not chancing it for the sake of £25. Many thanks for your help and continued interest in the outcome. Best Wishes and Regards, John

EGR Valves.
Peter Interesting post here. I have a 2005 2.5 V6 Petrol Automatic which is constantly throwing Fault Code P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold0 Bank 1. I have numerous posts on this Forum about this fault but despite many good people giving suggestions and advice we have still not got to the root of the problem. Do you think this cure of your problem could/would help my petrol engine S Type. Do you know what the process of a "Deep Catalyst" clean was. Many thanks and Best Wishes, Regards, John
