  1. 50 views and no replies?lol! Well, I decided to delete the error code off and the engine light went away. I then went for a `spirited` drive and the light is back. So I am now trying the `5 starts/runs out` trick to see if the engine light turns itself off. I will report back (erm... to myself??lol!) once I have completed 5 or 6 journeys.
  2. Get the battery drop tested and see if it`s badly deteriorated first, and if it`s the case that it is too weak to start the car then replace it. You can take your battery into Halfords and have it tested for free, if it has bitten the dust they will dispose of the old one for you if you purchase a new one there.
  3. I`m not sure, but maybe it is similar to when you put a sim card into a mobile phone that is set up/locked to work with one specific network? Maybe an orange, vodafone or o2 sim might work? You can pick free sims up off the net, may be worth ordering a few different makes and trying each to see if any work. Just an idea.
  4. Had the yellow engine light pop up on the instrument cluster after disconnecting the battery and putting on a new replacement. So I hooked up a diagnostic tool to the plug under the dash below the steering wheel and got 1 fault code, P1000. Nothing else came up. I've read this is something to do with the engine ecu doing a reset check cycle or similar? Am I ok to erase and clear it off or is it likely to be another issue?any advice appreciated. Thanks.
  5. I have to say I thought it was a little quiet compared to the Jap forums but I expected this as Jags are a bit less mainstream. On most forums new people get slated for posting before searching the site for an answer, but it keeps things flowing and gets conversations going, people can chat and then other bits of information come to light and can be shared, plus you feel like the club becomes a real community if you are in conversation with eachother and not just reading old posts.
  6. OK, so my drivers side mirror seemed to stop completely first, then the passenger side worked for a few more times and then gave up too! Now when I press the retract button inside the car nothing at all happens. Are the motors prone to burning out? Or is it likey that the switches have gone wrong? My first thought was wingmirror motors as I have had this problem in other cars in the past, but I have had to replace the window switches in other vehicles too. Or is it something completely different? Anyone else had this problem?
  7. 28 and just bought my first Jag, to be honest I wish I bought one sooner!
  8. Everything works on it, it`s a lovely drive and feels a solid car. There are a couple of blemishes but it is ten years old so I guess it is to be expected. The only thing I have noticed that really bothers me is the rubber seals on the doors seem to be bubbled up, I have found the part numbers on the net and just need to order and get them fitted/treat any rust issue laying underneath! It will be a pretty damn tidy car once I have sorted that I think!
  9. Hi guys! Well a little about me... I have been heavily into the Jap/modified car scene for a good few years now, to the point where my MR2 Turbo is running 300bhp and gets garaged over the winter months. So after sending her off to be tucked away and treated to a respray, I needed a winter run around... I planned on buying myself a banger to throw around and not need to worry about scraping or denting, viewed a few old Fords and Vauxhalls but I just didnt fancy them at all. So I trawled the net and found myself looking at a BMW E46, I was meant to go and look at it but the chap sold it before I had a chance! I wanted something reliable, comfortable and smart and realised most of the cars I had been checking out just didnt have what I was after! So out of curiosity I went to see an X-Type. After looking at it and driving it, I was hooked! It ticks every box for me, heated seats, all electrics, full leather, reverse sensors.. Well you guys know these cars are fully loaded! So I agreed a price and left a deposit, caught the train back and picked it up last Friday. Suddenly I find myself on the net ordering new X-Type fitted footwell mats, manuals and cleaning equipment! So what was meant to be a `cheap banger` for a runaround has resulted in a 2.0 V6 SE manual X-Type! I dont know how this one compares to the 2.5 and 3litre variants but I am chuffed with it, only driven it twice so far as it is solely a weekend car, I`m looking forward to Saturday to have a good spin out and play with all the buttons! I will pop a couple of pictures up soon, it`s very standard and I intend to keep it that way, just want to maintain it nicely. Hope everyone is well and having fun! Cheers. Dan.
