  1. It does take time for the refrigerant to cycle through the system cooling as it goes, yes. You may be a little low on refrigerant or perhaps the pollen filter is blocked, both of which will slow things down. Also if your TXV (Thermal Expansion Valve) is blocked or lazy this will slow things down further. However the work required to change the TXV is a lot so you'd have to consider the possible gains against doing the job. When i was working on brand new cars 30 years ago, the usual figure was at least 10 minutes before the AC started "pulling down" - that's in the UK so in the warmth of Sri Lanka, i'd expect another 5-10 minutes. The AC hasn't worked in my S Type since getting it so i can't offer a comparative figure but hoping to get it sorted fairly soon.
  2. To be honest, 15-20 mminutes doesn't sound too bad. What part of the world are you in? If it's a hot climate, it could reasonably take longer than normal.
  3. Are your headlamps LED or HID? If neither you could probably get away with non-adaptive (as a general rule of thumb) but i would anticipate lots of error messages and potential MoT (or Spansih equivalent) failures.
  4. Fuel filter?
  5. Given JLRs recent hacking problems, it might be more expedient to consult your friendly local independent Jag specialist. Often such specialists will have a stock of good used units on the shelf and will of course be able to fit/program as needed for your car.
  6. You should be able to find a "secret" keyhole just under the chrome plinth on the bootlid - using the key to unlock the boot there should get you in.
  7. Welcome aboard Andy, glad to hear your success story and long may that continue!
  8. In that case, it's probably an old code, read the codes again, check there's nothing new and then erase them. Drive the car as normal and see if the codes and charge warning light come back. If the code does come back with the charge warning light, you'll have to take it to where the alternator was fitted, it should have come with some sort of warranty
  9. What is your charging voltage? Often if there's an internal fault like a blown rectifier this will trigger the charge warning light. Also if the drive belt is loose it can happen plus a whole host of other causes.
  10. Have you tried ebay?
  11. Entirely as an "each to their own" comment, i would prefer to see something like that as the factory intended. I recently bought another car and a previous owner has added "V6", "automatic" and Union flag badges. Granted it is a V6 auto but it's definitely a Japanese car (JDM Import) so shouldn't have the Union flag on it IMHO. Conversely the car it's replacing is a Japanese brand but was built in Swindon so technically could have the Union flag at a push. What i'm really saying here is that while having a Leaper on an XJS might suit your tastes, it might not suit everyones and could negatively impact the value.
  12. The C70 is enjoying a bit of a rennaissance interms of value and kudos so my advice would be SORN it over winter and run it as a summer car.
  13. ............ and here we see the 3.0 Jaguar in its natural habitat, a fillng station! 🤣 Joking aside, i have an S Type 3.0 and i easily get at least 28mpg from it without trying - the big enemy of good mpg is pootling about at 30mph up and down the gears. Long straight roads, constant speed above 50mph and it gets good figures. Welcome aboard Daniel, as mentioned above, check for rust on the sills and where they meet the rear wheel arches.
  14. Welcome aboard Dave, glad you finally found us!
  15. I would agree with your logic, i'm not wildly familiar with the XF but would imagine it's electrical architecture to be similar to the S Type. There is a general module that's in the boot on the S Type (which could be a clue) and i'm not sure what other modules might be involved. I'd suggest checking in the boot, see if you can find any signs of water ingress/dampness, also check your sunroof drain holes/hoses in cae one or both is leaking water into the boot and causing your problem. As for hearing ultrasonic sensors, the clue is in the name - ultrasonic. They tend to operate in the 22-40KHz range, most humans can only hear up to ~18kHz so if someone says they can hear it, check them for bat DNA or assume they're mistaken or very lucky. Good luck with it, let us know how you get on.
  16. Welcome aboard Matt!
  17. Did you renew the fuel filter as well?
  18. Very nice! Now where did i put that winning lottery ticket? 😄 Joking aside, what is your idea of a "reasonable offer" as that is very much open ton interpretation?
  19. First thing to do is read the codes. If the battery is indeed not charging then that will upset the engine manangement and many other things. It could be there's a short to earth in the warning light circuit which will cause this. There could be a number of other reasons for it as well, i'd suggest searching for a local Jag independent specialist and/or a good autoelectrician.
  20. Handy to know iCarsoft JLR V2 will do an autobox reset - don't need to at the moment but useful to know.
  21. You might be able to clear it using an OBD-II scanner but it might also need a dealer reset - suck it and see.
