Hi John, I purchased a workshop manual for a Jaguar XF 2001-2008 from emanualsonline.com These Emanuals can be downloaded onto your PC in a PDF format. (you will need Adobe Acrobate reader to be installed on your PC......this should be easy to install) It is the Workshop manual for the XF. It may take a little time to get used to understanding it but it has all of the wiring diagrams that you would require etc.......It costs £9-99p. Hope you get your problem sorted out. Hi Dave, many thanks for your reply. My XF is around the 800 mark, but sometimes it idles at around the 900 mark. I will be contacting my Dealer in the near future as I want them to look into the matter of something knocking together when I start up the engine from cold.I posted this on the Forum recently and had a couple of welcome replies, but as of yet I have not been able to have it looked at as my Wife is not well. Hi Trevor, thanks for your input with regards to my predicament. At last I have to report that I have had 17" wheels with 235/55 tyres fitted to my XF. I now experience (as you kindly pointed out) a "Softer" ride. Gone is the "Harsh" jolt when going over bad parts of road surface. However I now get some slight sideways movement when going over "White Lines etc" which I can tolerate. I still experience a slightly "Jiggely" ride at times but these items are well worth putting up with rather than the teeth rattling ride I experienced with the 18" wheels.....My Jaguar Dealer has offered to try to sell the set of 18 x 245/45 wheels on eBay for me. Incidently the XF had to be reprogrammed in order to adjust the Speedo etc.after fitting the 17" wheels....I contacted my Insurers who made a note on my file about the wheel change, but it did not alter the premium..............Many Thanks............Billyboy

Hi All, I wonder if anyone could enlighten me with any info with regards as to what the difference there would likely to be between the following XF's with regards to the Handling and Ride charactaristics.....They are Both produced and supplied by Jaguar. The XF Luxury fitted with the 3.0 litre V6 240 Turbocharged engine with 17" wheels (235/55 tyres) and the XF Premium Luxury 3.0 litre V6 (same Engine) fitted with 18" wheels (245/45 tyres). It appears that both of these XF's have Identical engines and Power Outputs, so apart from Wheel/Tyre Sizes what is the difference....can it be just the Ride and Handling qualities or is there something else ? I am asking this question as I have previously talked about the rough riding on certain types of roads (on this Forum) with my XF Premium Luxury fitted with 18" wheels (245/45 tyres). My Dealer has promised that when possible, they would let me try out my XF with a set of 17" wheels fitted (235/55 tyres). Up until now there has been no joy of this happening. I am therefore hoping that I may get some idea of what I may expect if, and when, these smaller wheels are fitted, as a test, onto my XF in order to see if there is any improvement in the Ride qualities. Visited my Dealer again today in order to buy some screenwash. When they get the next demonstrator in with 17" wheels (235/50 tyres) they will fit these wheels to my XF in order to see what the ride is like. I am told that there will be an improvement. If I do not agree they will put my 18"wheels back onto my XF........Whilst I was there I had the chance of seeing two XF's that were fitted with 17"/235/50 Wheels. They did not look so good as the 18"wheels but I will be happy if I get the ride results that I am after. Since the XF is sold with 245/45 x 18" wheels and also 235/50 x 17" wheels there must be a difference in the ride and handling qualities otherwise why do they produce the same model car with different size tyres/wheels. Or is there something else.........has anyone got an XF 3.0 litre fitted with 235/50 x 17" wheels if so your observations would be appreciated. My XF (3.0 Litre Diesel) Premium Luxury Sept 2013 is throwing me about in my seat when travelling over some roads. My wheels/tyres are 18"......Pirelli 245/45. I am told that these are "Low Profile" tyres, which may be part of the problem. I have been in contact with my Dealer who have given me a great deal of help.....All to no avail...........I have read items on Forums which show that the suspension set up on the XF will give this "Jiggly" ride. I notice that there are some models of the 3.0 litre that run with 17" wheels. Apart from the appearence of these smaller wheels, would tyres fitted to an XF result in tyres that would be considered NOT to be "Low Profile".......would these smaller Wheels/Tyres result in a better ride over roads that would normally be a "Jiggly" one with my 18" wheels/tyres that I have fitted at the moment........Unfortunately my Wife is now confined to her bed with Spinal Cancer, so I am mainly using my Lovely XF for short trips with the occasional Dual Carriage/Motorway Journeys, so I am suffering a rough ride most of the time which is getting on my nerves.......When I had a Road Test in an 3.0 litre D I mainly was on main roads so I really did not come across the "Jiggly" ride (Allthough I did experience a type of "Wallowing" sensation).......does anybody out there know if this problem will subside with time/milage. The car that I had before this XF was an X type Soveriegn which had 17" wheels and was a very,very comfortable ride. Hi, I am new to these forums...Love your enthuseasm about the Lovely, Beautiful, XF (I feel tyhe same). I have previously owned from new, 3 X Types, a 2.0L Petrol, a 2.5L- AWD Petrol (what a Road Hugger) and lastly a 2.2L Diesel "Sovereign". Unfortunately, I am finding my XF very "Harsh Riding" after my "Sovereign. I can understand that the suspention needs to be "Harder" on my XF but when I traverse some undulating roads at low speeds, the XF bounces about so much so that it becomes very, very uncomfortable as I get thrown violently from side to side in my very comforatable seat. When I had a test drive in a 3.0L D XF and I did not notice any of this unwanted action at the time. I also experience a sort of "Wallowing" feeling on some main roads. I have contacted Jaguar Head Office, who state that this should not be happening and the result is that my XF is going back to the dealers next week for inspection. Is there any chance that you have come across this problem with your XF.....Happy Motoring in your Lovely XF......BillyBoy
