Good morning.
You certainly have a very nice looking XF.
I've heard that it's advisable to change the ( ie coolant pump i think but don't know if it's for a Petrol or Diesel Engine ).

Hi, I have a 2016 XE 20D AWD and can check on previous services and distance to the next service and ad-blue top up from the computer menu. Page 50 to 53 in your handbook, I have not had the car very long and find the handbook absolutely essential, if you do not have one you can get an online version. Enjoy your car, I enjoy mine.
Thanks for this, i'll need to check if i can find it for my XF and see if it gives me more information than i got from the jaguar dealer.
Regards Tom.

Well done you, i've heard that to add Mods to the X260 XF is very difficult because wiring looms are made for individual cars.
I won't need this as i've got the Reverse Camera, but i'll have a look on their website and nice to hear that they are in Scotland.
Many thanks for adding this to the Club.
Regards Tom.

Welcome to the Club.
I bought my XF in September and having looked at XF models for 3 to 4 month's and in particular the 3:0 litre model's ,as members who have the V6 engine like the smoothness and power of these engine's.
But having checked out Servicing Costs ( ie Twin turbos, 2 EGR Valves, and changing Belts could cost £1000 pounds ) i've gone for the 2:0 litre 180 hp Portfolio model, and i'm enjoying every minute.
When checking out a XF X260 you'll have to check out what you want on the Car ( ie heated windscreen, heated seats, folding mirrors, folding rear seats, adaptive suspension ) as there's not 2 XF Car's the same as wiring looms are made for individual cars.
And check out the Service History, as there's no Stamps in the Handbook now it's all on a Computer.
Regards Tom.

Welcome to the Club . Steve.
The X Type is a great car, and you having owned one previously you'll know what needs to be looked at and checked.
But if you need advice you just need to come onto the Club, so in the meantime enjoy your X Type.

Hi All
I have had a good old head banging with Jaguar over the DPF. If you have the DPF FULL red warning light on the car will not do a passive regeneration. That means it will not regen whilst driving.
I had the Red Warning light recently and after taking it to Jaguar was told ithe DPF needed replacing at a cost of £3993.00. (According to their JLR diagnostic equipment)I subsequently took it to a DPF specialist near me who fixed it for £90.00.
In a nutshell.....your ECU guesses the Soot counter and Ash values in the DPF based on driving habits etc.If it gets to a certain level it will perform a passive regeneration whilst you are driving. If the journey you are doing is not long enough to get everything up to temperature to burn off the soot it will not regenerate. If this driving style continues and it does not get to do a regen it then thinks it is full and subsequently gived the dreaded FULL red warning.
I took Mine to Fitch Autos who were brilliant. They did all the tests to confirm it was not full and then did a manual check with a Manometer to confirm there was actually very little soot in there. The soot counters were reset then when it was driven it performed its own regeneratin and works perfectly now.
HOWEVER...it has to be checked properly. You cannot just reset the counters as this can cause a fire and serious damage. The values have to be calculated and ckecked by professionals mate.
hope this helps....if you need the details of the DPF place i went to let me know
Gareth
it just shows how Dealer's try to Rip off Owner's, well done in getting it sorted.

Happy New Year Joe, and to all members of the Jaguar owner's club.

You could also try Carparts4Less,they are part of Eurocarparts but are usually Cheaper.
I used Pagid discs and Pagid brake pads on my previous x type and never had any problems.
I did wonder if the original jaguar pads produced less brake dust.

I drove the car into the Ford garage on Monday and left it with with them as they were going to charge the battery overnight, well i get a phone call on Tuesday
saying that the Start/Stop is still not working.
I left the car with them for another day as the weather was horrendous 4 lorries getting blown over and one landing on a police car on the A1 road.
So i get a phone call on the Wednesday and telling me that they've fitted a New Battery with a rating of 95AH 850A compared to the Jaguar battery with a rating of 80AH 800A
and everything is working at the moment.

Welcome to the Club.
On my XF the WI FI Sim Holder is on the Roof of the ( Boot/Trunk ) along with a USB which has a Spanner on it to be used for Servicing and they are quite close to the Pull
Cable for the Folding Seats.
Regards Tom.

My XF is the same start/stop has never worked, the dealer checked the charge in the Battery and it was only 75% and they said it needs to be at least 85% for the start/Stop to work and they left it at that.
So i've kept at them to get it sorted, so i can't wait for Monday the 9th of December to come and they want the car over night to charge the battery and then we'll see what they say because i think they are not wanting to fit a new one and i can see why having looked at the Cost off these AGM Batteries.
I've a friend with an XE and he had to get a new battery and his start/Stop work's perfectly even within 2 or 3 minutes of leaving his house.
Regards Tom.

Welcome to the Club Mark.
I've had 3 X Type's in the past and they're great car's, what you have to watch is that some Mondeo parts will fit but other parts like the Suspension you are better to buy original jaguar parts because Mondeo Suspension Parts can cause your tyres to wear unevenly.

Hello Ian.
Welcome to the Club
You have a nice looking XF and All Wheel Drive, i bought mine in September and was looking into buying an All Wheel Drive but finnished up with a Rear Wheel Drive.
And i've just bought secondhand alloys with Winter tyres and have them fitted now and what a difference they make and am really enjoying the the XF.
I hope your enjoying your XF, there's something different about driving a Jag.
Regards Tom.

Hi All
Just a quick update to the key cutting, if you own a 2016 on Xf (x260), the key programing is a big issue.
In 2016 Jaguar Changed the process to help make it more difficult to steal there cars , in order to reprograme a key or keys you have to have the KVM module reprogramed berfore you can programe the keys.
The dealers will do this by suppling a new KVM module and 2x keys for the sum of £690.00.
There are only a couple of companys in the country that will reprogram the module and supply 2 x keys, it cost me £ 180 pounds and a three hundred mile round trip.
But much cheaper than a Jaguar sort !!!!
So be aware later X20 no easy key fix.
Hi Chippy17
Please let us know what Company you used in case a member needs this service. thank you.
Regards Tom.

I had the H149 done to my 2.0l diesel XF at Inchcape in Preston. Performance doesn't seem to affected, however, after driving for about 60mls a warning for incorrect diesel emission fluid detected appeared. I have contacted JLR who carried out the work and they have said it was just an oil and filter change and therefore not their fault. Has anyone else had this problem?
When i bought my XF in September from a Ford garage they said that they had booked the car in for a Software update to the local jaguar dealer's and also said that they had bought 16 litres of AdBlue from the jaguar dealer that sold the car in the first place, and filled up the DEF Reservoir in the boot. Well after driving 37 miles to get home i get a message about the AdBlue not being properly dispersed and the message said Non Critical.
So the car went in for the H149 Recall to the Jaguar Dealer and then i get a phone call telling me that to delete the Non Critical message from the Dash they would need to Drain the AdBlue and then refill with New Ad Blue and asking me to Pay £160 pounds for this to be done, so i told them to phone the Ford garage and they agreed to pay the £160 pounds. The Handbook does mention that overfilling can Cause Problems, my mechanic that has serviced my car's over the year's said that he Just Tops up the Ad Blue Reservoir and doesn't no how it can be Overfilled .

OK Alex.
Mine doesn't have a forward mounted camera.
Sorry for giving you the wrong information, i must have been thinking about the facelift model.

I have 2 Barbados Alloy 1 7" Wheels for Sale to fit an X type . The were bought to be used with Winter tyres on the front wheel drive x type, but in the end one was used as a spare and the other lay in the shed. They're in very good condition and have no kerb marks.

I'm led to believe that each sensor has a battery fitted to them inside the tyre and may need changing after 4 year's, and i've also heard that they need to be working when the car goes in for it's Mot.
I've got them on my XF and one was acting up, but it seems to have settled down now.

Good morning.
just wondering if you've had a test drive yet, i bought a XF Portfolio in September it has 18" alloys and i think they're big enough and the car drives very well.
I prefer the Rib pattern of the Seats on the Portfolio and i think they'll keep there shape better.
Regards Tom.

As Joe has said that's it in a Nut Shell, i've been preaching what he has said when i had my 2:2 Auto Sovereign X Type, drive it as if you had stolen it or give it an Italian tune once the engine is up to temperature i give it some Revs like when coming off a Roundabout. I'm now driving a 2017 model XF Portfolio 2:0 litre 180 hp Diesel, i was really looking at the 3:0 litre XFS Model but i didn't really need a 295 hp engine and with the potential cost of servicing ( ie 2 turbos, 2 egr valves, and the cost of changing belts ) i've gone for the 2:0 litre engine and loving it. And if you buy one which you will after a test drive, look for a good Independent jaguar specialist for your servicing.
Regards Tom.

I'm well pleased with the 8 inch touchscreen and the Meridian sound system just like your own, I won't be hankering for the 10 inch touchscreen as I think it will be more complicated.
Enjoy your XF Pete, i've still to take mine on a long drive so hopefully it will happen in the next week or two.
-
Hello Pete.
And thanks for the welcome, i'm not a whiz kid as far as technology is concerned, some say that the 8 inch touchscreen is out off date as well as the Sat Nav and the 10 inch touchscreen is the one to have so they say.
I have the 8 inch touchscreen and i'm still learning, i usually use Waze Sat Nav on my Mobile or Google maps.
Regards Tom.
