  1. Hi. Glad to hear you've had yours 6 years. I bought mine a year ago and have just clocked up  a massive 600 miles. Next year im actually going to start using it more lol. Had a bad start with a 2 grand bill for various probs  and got the frighteners so just admired it in the garage but sorted now and loving it.  On trickle for now and all tucked up :winkiss:

  2. mine too has developed this problem--albeit not too bad.  Seems to get worse the hotter they get. I too have been advised that it is the brake pads. Trouble is with mine that it sits idle for long periods. Hopefully going to be a reasonably affordable fix.

  3. Yikes--thought about p ex ing for a newer 4wd for missus ---2005 2.5 80k  looks and drives like new ---offered £ 1300. Can`t do it. its not neccessarily the money it just seems criminal for such a nice car. Think i`ll keep it and go with cash for a discount.

  4. Do you do your own mechanics? ----Err that lump in the front makes it go I think. . Sadly I rely on others. Parts are readily available and my biggest cost so far has been garage  labour. When I bought mine I sent it to a Jag specialist who overhauled the suspension and changed a sensor or two which entailed removing supercharger -eek---plus a few other bits --parking sensors, wheel bearing etc.(2K) ..Handling is good and I have made no mods to it. Running on 20 inch BBS wheels which I thought about changing for 18`s to give a more comfortable ride over my very rural roads but haven`t bothered . I only do tiny mileage and keep it for weekend jaunts only. Auto box is fine but I always have autos anyway. ( it is a Jaguar after all )

    hope that helps.

  5. ita a monumental leap from S type to XKR (4.0 2002 conv)--I have both. Once you have purchased it just forget about what its worth ( going up in price anyway) and enjoy.Just be prepared  It WILL cost you money-LOTS- to keep it running right but thats to expected. I love it -yes its dated and the roof is clumsy etc etc but still makes me smile when I open the garage doors. oh and it goes like stink :)

  6. Go for it if its not silly money--I`m guessing 5k ish --be prepared to spend a few thousand on it and you have a classic thats quickly going up in price and also one of the nicest looking cars ever made.

Edit---5k may be on the low side for a 4.2

  7. Not sure where to post this but.....

Toying with the idea of swapping out my 2002 Xkr convertible for a good XK8 4.2 Coupe. Love my car but a convertible being left out is not great as I now want to use it as a daily.

2002 4.0 XKR Convertible 89000 miles. Brand new MOT (this week) Recent spend on suspension and bits (3K)--Lovely condition---Aberdeenshire based

    Any thoughts welcome

Replaced standard grill yesterday on wifes 2005 S type with shiny mesh one -----always plenty of jobs to do on these 2
