Yes iv always wanted a jag my dad got an xkr and that gave me the push to buy the s type really nice car really comfy but takes the bends well , iv found you need to give it respect in the wet tho , I have drove old v8 bmw 5 and 7 and not as scatty in the wet , but it's a jag :)
You can buy code readers off eBay cheap which will clear and read codes may be worth you getting one because you need to clear the code and read it after to make sure you have fixed it
If you live near grimsby I will read codes for you for free hope this is a help

I believe the hot air blowing in is the control valve knackered
I would take both lamber sensors out dobt touch them as grease in your fingers can damage them Shen up to temp , leave them to soak in petrol tgen wipe with a clean rag ,
Lamber sensors alter the running of the engining to make it run as clean as possible , this is why there is normally a lamber sensor before and after the cat , if that doesn't work they will only be cheap on e bay last time I fitted one it was a 22mm nut , look for the 1st in the manifold and 2nd in centre pipe .
I would do this and the coolant 2 cheap flixs and see what it runs like

The problems with the gear box is the solenoids not a major job but first change Oil like you have , next thing I would try is wd40 the connects to the sensors on the box they do get dam in doesn't mean it's a mechanical problem just because it's jerky with an auto , wdeans water distplatment so it's good on old ecetrics , clean anyone which looks corroded,
Is your gear box missing 2nd and 5th ? What how low the revs go when changing from 1st and 4th if it's missing 2nd and 5th ecu is protecting the gear box and I would say there was a problem
I have heard of people disconnecting battery overnight because the jag ecu is a plug and play it adapts to his it's running ,, I havnt tried it my self but it isn't like modern cars you can disconect it with no problems of you have radio code
Only other thing in a faulty sensor
Hope this is a help good luck and keep us informed :)

Today I went to the gaydon car museum and Coventry transport museum
Coventry was good considering it's donations , had the xk8 concept , x type concert , mk 2 , e type f type and ss as well as other British card
Grayson was very good I have added an album of photo to my profile from here , it was 12 for an adult to get in but if you keep recipt you can go back as many times as you like within 12 months. All cars looked like new lots of classics , to name a few cars xj 220, mk 2 e type , rover v8 estate concept , Chris boarderman lotus bike, lotus 7 , that mg x power super car and all cars are in amazing condition really good day out good for kids lots of engines / gear boxes cut in half. There is an mg miget were the full car is cut in half.
Only thing what disappoint me , British car museum and no jenson interceptor :(

I think the f type will only go up in value , they really captured the e type rear end which engine does the s have
-
That's great thank you :) I have the 4 litre s type but that xkr my dad has is a different Level
I think the xkr is a up and coming classic good investment
-
I went to Gaydon today well worth a trip , I have added photos to my albums , I also went to the Coventry transport musseum on the way and that is also worth a look

My dad has a 2000 plate 4.0 L supercharged xkr
We have heard on the Internet about changing the pulleys for more power
Does anyone know the power gains ?
Cost ?
Realibility ?
Is extra cooling required ?
Thanks Luke

Sorry it doesn't surprise me !
It was ment to say " suppose to open on its own"
Stupid I phone
-
Not sure if it's surprise to open from the key ? But last night my partner was out I was bored and I decided it would be cool if it opened on its own ,,,,
I started by lubricantibg tge hinge with a ptfe spray I then spayed the struts with silicone.
Next step was to add more tension to the springs,
At the rear bed of the spring were the loop in the spring is I wedded the spring with a flat head aces driver to open up the gap between the spring and the mounting plate I then added 6 2p price in the gap
Spacing the spring Adds tension
It has worked everytime since I did this
I was going to make spacers but the tension of the spring holds the 2ps in nice and its adjustable simply add or remove coins to get the opening speed you would like

I havnt looked but a coolant level sensor wil have to be a level trip in the coolant resavar, look for a sensor into it ,, try cleaning the plug with electrical cleaner
How are you finding the s type apart from this ?
Regards Luke

Yer it's just a standard port , il have to download that thank you kenny
I have just had mine on the ramp and it has 4 lamber sensors 2 in each pipe , I would clean all 4 tge sensors on the auto box are hard to access but have a good look if you can see and damp , I would check bell housing , outlet bearing and pan for transmition fluid leaks. This should be red and taste horrible.
May sound stupid when was it last serviced ? If it is only lamber sensors I would service it while you are mucking about including fuel filter and plugs if you don't know when last changed. An old fuel filter restricting flow can be a problem I had that on my first car I had
