  1. FINALLY GOT THEM MADE - £599 - 50 UNITS AVAILABLE Jaguar AJ16 Engine Exhaust Manifolds in 304 Stainless Steel The Aj16 has always had an issue with cracking occurring in the cast iron manifolds. You can weld them up or find used ones without cracks but at some point, they all crack – and no one is making new ones. These stainless steel, branched manifolds solve that problem, flow better, and give your car’s engine bay a more sporting cosmetic appearance. The system does not have Catalytic units as found on the old downpipe, however as most realise on UK cars at least there are no pre cat sensors so the deletion of the cats makes no difference to the running of the engine, with the prototypes having run for thousands of miles with no issues. (Foreign buyers should check with their emission laws to determine if they are compliant in deleting the cats) Disassembly and Reassembly Overall, the disassembly and installation is quite straightforward; Remove lambda sensors and EGR piping if fitted. Remove your old manifolds and down pipe. Lambda and EGR piping connections with bungs, are built into our pipes but OEM EGR piping will need modifying for refit The down pipe outlet of the supplied assembly is a straight slip clamp joint, which will fit an exhaust system with the same type joint. Cars with olive joints can be installed two ways. Cut off 150mm of the olive joint pipe end from the old OEM downpipe, and weld or clamp to the end of the new downpipe. Alternatively if you wish to keep your old downpipe, one side of a new olive joint clamp is fitted on the tail of the new down pipe, and the tail of the new downpipe is flared to suit. This then connects to the other half of the olive joint on the remaining exhaust system. When attaching the manifolds to the head use new gaskets (not supplied) we recommend using new manifold stud nuts and ensure studs are tightened in accordance with jaguar torque specifications The system comes supplied with connection clamps for pipe-to-pipe joints that are sufficient to do their job. However, they will need checking from time to time, and tightened as required while the system beds in. Other forms of connector may be used or the pipe to pipe connection may tack welded for extra security Do not fully tighten pipe-to-pipe clamp joints until the new system is comfortably in position. We recommend using a smear of exhaust jointing paste on pipe-to-pipe joints Pipe to pipe connection lengths are slightly longer than necessary to afford trimming down in order to achieve a perfect fit, as no two installations will be identical to the millimetre. We will always answer any technical questions to help you with the installation but some skill is required for a good install. Use a competent installer if you are uncertain or not sufficiently skilled and equipped to do the work. Price includes UK postage with additional postage for international orders to be determined case by case. We will endeavour to get orders shipped on Friday of each week, and work with you to ensure you get the best price delivered no matter where you are AJ16 exhaust manifolds in 304 stainless steel to suit all X300 jaguars in left or right hand drive, and with additional small modification, potentially fit cars Like the XJS 4.0l The next batch we make will include versions for the AJ6 engine, which has a different main flange design and bolt pattern. If you need this version, please get in touch so that we can determine manufacturing quantity as each batch takes three months to produce David Austin Contact for further information - Jagrow.uk@outlook.com
  2. Picking this up on the 3rd of Feb...I like my X308 but I simply loved that way this car has been carefully modified.....was an ivory interior changed to charcoal, cleaned up the lines by removing the side body bump strips....and yes its a manual It needs a bit of love but not much in the scheme of things....I'm definitely going to detail the engine compartment
  3. Hi Opie.....have used you before on a range of cars and can only add my recommendation of your knowledge and products New Question (also sent on your website but to repeat here) transmission fluids for the X308 XJR 722.6 gearbox (made by Mercedes Benz) the spec is 210.12 I believe from memory....shell make one.....what are other alternatives
  4. that is a useful post Frank and one I found a good while back when I was trying to solve X300 problems....but no matter how old this thread is now, and hopefully the poster found the cure....the moral of this story is that our cars X300 X308 do not like to be left unused for any length of time which allows these gremlins to creep in and cause electrical terminal corrosion induced by moisture and create a hard to find problem...but these type of problems are inevitable unless you live in the Mohave desert or keep it in a dehumidified warm garage and never use it on cold days
  5. what happens when too much money is in the hands of anyone that does not appreciate things of value
  6. The nice chaps at footman james appeared to have given me discount for being a premium member of the Jaguar Owners Club.....and require the membership number?.....where is that info on my profile or is it something in premium member documentation Ive received or held on record club record
  7. For a first time X buy that's a a bit of bad luck with those findings....but if the repair work is good then for the money its a fair investment into one of these 'if' you plan to keep it..... if you sell it on todays prices you will lose a few quid.....but don't we all lose money on old cars....its a love hate thing. welcome to hell and paradise.....X308 will give you a bit of both
  8. seems there are HPI checks...and HPI checks Had a Jaguar main agent run my registration and it came up with what I already had....which was coming up as a 2012 car......very odd....but I spose that's it pat on back to self thread closed
  9. I don't have the V5 for an XJR (X308) I got on auction recently The previous keeper hasn't sent in the V5 to DVLA and didn't deliver the car with the new keepers supplement .....somehow both seem to have got lost in the post....yea right meaning I now have to send in a V62 in order to get the car registered in my name problem is Im abroad so neither I nor anybody else can get to the car to see the VIN which I need in order to process the V62...... But I did an HPI check and got the engine number....DC9904290335...assuming the engine is original with the car will main agent be able to tell me the VIN help appreciated Dave
  10. far east Essex...Shoeburyness...just recently acquired my third XJR being a 1999 X308 in sapphire...previously two X300 XJR's.....also a blown 1990 mustang and a turbo 1993 Impreza RA...Unlike alcoholics there is no help for me....''My name is David I am a boost addict''
  11. Should do what I preach and notice the obvious....'old thread'.....but hope you fixed it
  12. getting the gear shift surround and console out is no biggie.....and it does sound like park isolation switch I had a similar problem but it wouldn't start in park or neutral....it was the rheostat that the shift lever slides past which was the culprit
  13. buy an OBD II scanner on the Bay and plug it in...being a 97 version II should work....95 and earlier were often OBD I ....There is a lot of info on diagnosing the outputs of an OBD on the web, on many jag forums, even YouTube will show you how to use one....it stands the best chance of throwing up a code to signify what problem(s) you have.....taking out guess work is a matter of being logical, patient, and focusing your research. However that being said I had a prob that didn't throw a solution code....a simple no start on a 95 XJR that every man and his dog had an opinion for..ECU, this sensor, that sensor, park isolation lateral switch....it wouldn't crank.....park isolation lateral switch was not it but it was at least physically close........ turned out to be the voltage variable rheostat fitted next to the shifter was bent slightly and losing contact as the gear lever moved from park to the gears....no contact = no crank.....stuffed a washer down the side to force it left slightly and fixed
  14. I had a few jaguars over the years 1979 Daimler Double six 1994 XJR 6 1996 XJR 6 and when the 94 went to a guy who came all the way from Italy for it a couple of years back I Thought that was it.....jaguar days are over.....no more little problems to play with.....time for some boringly sensible motoring well the next car was a 1993 Subaru Impreza RA.....sensibly boring?.....nothing ever went wrong with it....started every time....and yea it went like a scalded cat......but something was missing? And so as you do while searching the eBay adds I looked through the XJR listings....not that I was looking to buy another one of course because I promised never do that.....didn't I.... I was just curious to see what the market would have been for my 94 if I had kept it And there it was .....a 148K miles1999 X308 XJR MOT'd to may 2015 with three minutes to go and silly cheap for what is 'apparently' looked like a well cared for car going by the description apart from saggy headlining, cracked and grubby but not worn through front seats, and need for tyres....and he had not included the usual phrase so common in the sale text of X300/308 Jaguars..... "its got a little bit of bubbling on the arches" = Holes you can get your fist in'' Well you know how it goes.....your heart starts racing a bit....you look at the details five times.....see who is bidding etc....even tho you are not going to buy it Have you ever entered a bid in the box when you know full well you wont actually press the submit button....of course you're not going to actually press the submit button....are you!....YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BUY IT!.... and anyway its so cheap that for sure if you did press submit there will be an automatic bid that would beat yours Then with 4 seconds to go.....disaster struck! I think I must have been hovering over the left mouse click or I was distracted by something that tensed my index finger but before I knew it I had inadvertently placed the bid.....Well there I am in a terrible quandary.....surely someone will bid again.....3.....2......1.........'congratulation you won the item' Reality set in.....I had gone and bought another one.....I was legally committed to purchase! Quite quickly I followed it up with a call to the owner expecting to hear a calamity of woes that he had failed to mention like a ''little bit of bubbling'' Bottom line is that it hasn't!....its been well looked after....the chap knows all previous owners from new....its got 10 years worth of Jaguar main agent service history...receipts for all work.... yes there had been corrosion but on the front arches behind the horrid mud flaps and it had been pro repaired with metal and new wings and respray Suddenly I was a much happier camper and tho I have not actually seen the car yet my waters tell me I may have found a fairly good deal ....sure it wont be perfect and I will be spending time leaning over it for some reason or another.....But for all the bad that comes with the good Im still happy to be back in a car that I have always thought to be right up there as one of, if not the most beautiful four door super saloon ever designed. Its an XJR have some pics but they are rather bad eBay jobbies so will post some more when I get to see it in the flesh
