  1. Welcome Young 'un

the cd changer in your car will be in the glovebox if fitted, the newer one won't fit,

it will have the ford radio fitted so getting a changer unit shouldn't be a problem, search the bay for them.

As as for cutting out, has it been serviced properly?

the plugs on the left bank are a right pita as the inlet manifold has to be removed!

it could be something as simple as needing plugs

  2. I had a 1999 Stype with inoperable aircon a couple of years ago and found it to be a pipe that runs along the chassis rail in the left side of the engine bay.

the problem according to Jaguar is that it runs very close to the manifold thus causing the problem.

For the facelift Jaguar altered the run of the pipe work so it goes over the top of the right of the engine.

The only thing is that Jaguar wanted £340+vat for the pipe alone, not good news.

i saw a few in breakers yards but they were just as bad and, with it being the weak link in the system, not really an option imho.

You may be lucky and it just needs regassing..

good luck and keep us posted on your finds.

  3. Me neither.

its not like back in the day when you could but only had to worry about the dizzy cap!!

id just make sure the stuff you can see is clean with some type of spray cleaner and a cloth.

jet washing a modern unit will only end in tears!

  4. Ever wondered why the first owner chose the car that you now own??

we were talking about this the other day.

    my car for example,

what was ultraviolet chosen, why did they have satnav and heated seats but no voice or bluetooth options?

What at made them go for a manual instead of an automatic?

Makes you you wonder what they saw looking in the sales brochure.

  5.  eBay sometimes throw some up.

i found my powerflow boxes on there, bargain too.

As fitted to my previous 3.0 jagwah.

    Nice V6 burble too.

    image.jpegNow fitted to my 2.7d.

not much noise from them but I kept them from when I sold my old car and are there purely for aesthetics.

The dealer painted the old exhaust tips black!!

  6. They usually rot where the fixing bolts poke through.

If if its that then try unscrew the nut then use a piece from a coke* can with a hole drilled in it to bridge the gap.

You don't really want to junk it as its there for a reason.

    *other drinks cans are available.

  7. The 5 speed box can be more problematic than the later zf 6 speed box but any problems are almost always rectified with a fluid change and filter, not cheap though at around £250 but cheaper than a new box.

Jaguar say there sealed for life but a fluid n filter around the 70k mileage sorts it.

The older cars electrics are a nightmare if things go wrong, stuff like central locking and A/C tend to go wrong first.
