  1. Hi If you google it you need a special electronic control unit for adding trailer sockets on these as all the rear light outputs to the lights have a permanent positive feed to one side of the bulb and the rear body module switches the earth to bring the light on. your trailer will be completely opposite, hence the need for the module, also too much load on the body module outputs could pop the rear body module something like these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152266585006 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280904208860 cheers Joe
  2. Hi looks like some kind of display port maybe some kind of android screen was fitted, if you follow the cable back it should lead you to a comtrol box which may tell you cheers Joe
  3. Hi easier just to buy a used rear view mirror and just replace it door mirrors are the same boot leak is usually across the top of the rear lights, there a rubber trim thats pushes in that never seals, most people remove it clean it and refit them with some silicone sealant, which usually cures it cheers Joe
  4. Hi There companies that repair them really cheap on ebay send it to them and they fix them, they send them back and should work straight away this way you dont need them coding to the car with software, like you would if you bought new ones if they dont work after a battery change theres a fault with the remote cheers Joe
  5. Hi Are you sure there switch on on some s-type you can turn the front sensors off on the overhead console otherwise get it plugged in to Jaguar ids/sdd and it will tell you whats up with them cheers Joe
  6. Hi There is a separate module for the for the remotes, sure its in the armrest area the remotes are quite cheap new on ebay, would get a new pair if your getting them programmed worth mentioning you need a least 2 keys or 2 remotes for it to work, if one remote fails, neither remote will work cheers Joe also have a look here for manuals and wiring diagrams http://www.jagrepair.com/
  7. Hi pm me your reg and I will see what info on Jaguar IDS/SDD software cheers Joe
  8. Hi If its fuel related it might not cause any fault codes Have you changed the fuel filter and checked the gasket on the cover, possible cause
  9. Hi cheapest place for CATS dampers is usually Moss Europe. you could swap them, but obviously you will lose the active damping, also you will get regular cats damping faults on you dash and warning light, also when they go into fault, the dampers default to hard, so your new normal fronts ones will be usually medium to soft ride and the rear shocks will be stuck in hard, so you would have to replace all 4 shocks, then ideally need the cats coded out with software, or you could connect resistors to the connector at the top of the shock to fool it to think there still connected, this also may effect how the car handles. if you need any workshop manuals look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  10. Hi You may have more than one fault from the sounds of it The Alarm and imobiliser are completely seperate, the beeping sound will more than like be the sounder, if its beeping, then its the active sounder, almost all car now at this age the battery backup in the sounder are usually no good and most times they discharge the main battery and cause regular nuisance alarms, this can be proven by just unplugging the active sounder, its in a metal box under the fuse box in the engine bay The non starting fault sounds like bad glow plugs, turning the key off and on, will restart the glow plug heaters, doing this multiple times will make it start far easier, odds are some of the 6 glow plugs have failed, glow plugs always become a problem this time of year as it get colder, there not needed when the temp is warmer. to get accurate fault codes and possible remedies on S-type you need to plug it into Jaguar IDS/SDD, SDD is whats compatible with yours and that will give you accurate fault codes if you need workshop manuals look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ Cheers Joe
  11. Hi You could at one time buy a unit to make them fold on lock you can make one with a few relays if your handy with electronic message me as I have wiring diagrams on how to make them I made one for mine many years ago cheers Joe
  12. Hi As already said above, the adaptation reset can be done with Jaguar ids/sdd software or with icarsoft LR V2 or V3 Jaguar dealer wont do these any more will have to be a Jaguar indy cheers Joe
  13. Hi I would only use ZF lifeguard 6, because its never a good idea mixing oils. would only buy genuine ZF aswell, aftermarket filters allways seem to leak. Genuine kit comes with oil, filter, new pins with larger heads and new mecha sleeve, which were prone to leaking on the electric connector. when you change the oil, only about 6 litres drains out of the box, about 4 to 5 litres stays in the torque converter. never known any body have any issues with using zf lifeguard 6, but a lot of people who use a different brand seem to get problems also, when changing the oil, ideally you should clear the gearbox adaptations, so the gearbox learns how to shift again and you get smoother shift, sometimes putting fresh, slightly thicker oil in, can make the gear changes quite harsh, also reseting the adaptations can only be done with software like Jaguar ids/sdd and some icarsofts, disconnecting the battery does nothing. Adaptation reset is allways done if the service is done at jaguar. also if your getting harsh shifts, if the gearbox has never been updated, software update can cure this, last update was 2009, my car was a 2004 and had its original 2004 software, updating mine cured the surging/hunting when it was cold at around 30 to 40 mph. cheers Joe
  14. Hi If its like the S-type ACM, you can only use a flash drive up to 8gb on mine I created folders called CD1, CD2 and so on, then copied my mp3's into them, use mine all the time, there great. cheers Joe
  15. HI Change the oil, thats got the ford gearbox and uses Standard ATF oil so cheap and worth changing, usually fixes a lots of problems, especially if the oil is low cheers Joe
  16. Hi Not exactly Kent area but well worth traveling is Krown Rust Treatment They do a great job, all inside all the box section, panels and doors, they remove all the dirt shield and do a proper job, you can wait while they do it. Have a look at some of there clips https://www.krown.co.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/krownuk cheers Joe
  17. HI Post some picture up if you mean just on the sunroof, the cover should come off usually just clipped on cheers Joe
  18. HI Make sure you put a inline fuse on the positive lead, as close to the battery as possible if it get trapped for any reason, it will pop the fuse, otherwise it will catch fire these leads should be supplied with a inline fuse Ive used CTEK smart chargers for years and can be left on long term, anything above 3amp ideally, CTEK is what all the manuafacters use, Jaguar, Aston, BMW, Porsche, Rolls Royce. I use the Jaguar CTEK in mine, as it comes with a dedicated socket for the boot, so you just plug it in without the need to move anything. Also the Jaguar CTEK is fully automatic, just plug in and go, no buttons to press, if you get a power cut, it just starts again , no need to go back in and press any buttons. cheers Joe
  19. Hi By the sounds of it the transponder chip has fell out of the fob when you have take the key/remote apart the battery only effects the opening and closing of the car doors, starting is by a transponder chip in the remote, there two types of transponder chip and small black plastic type chip, about 10mm long and a cylindrical glass type chip, if it wont start this is missing you need to find it and slot it back in the key part of the remote/key pics below, but the are only about 10mm long cheers joe
  20. hi Ideally you need to plug in and see what faults you get, they should point you to the right direction if coolants ok, could be a bad coolant level sensor or waterpump, plugging in should tell you and you could also monitor the cooland temp, as the gauges on most jaguars dont show correct temp, they just a visual indicator, the either show normal or full, high temp, there usually no in between, but with a diagnostic tool you can actually monitor the actual temperature cheers Joe
  21. Hi take the caliper off and send it to Big Red, they refurbishi calipers to new condition and they do that sort of job every day and would only cost a few hundred pounds to fix, phone them and they will give you a price, quick turn around aswell cheers Joe https://www.biggred.co.uk/
