Love it!
however beating her into submission (verbally of course) is no longer an option, I've already had the "Don't talk to me anymore about cars" comment
the second option is just to scary not a fan of hospital food, nor do I fancy 2 to 3 days of the silent treatment! Although I suppose I could kip in the back of the STR?
i was considering the puppy eyed, quivering bottom lip approach?
'2 to 3 days of the silent treatment' yes please!

HI
Is all I can say is don't rush into buying one
I waited for the right one and eventually I found it
I waited and ended up traveling a bit, but got myself a really nice 2004, STR, with full jaguar service history and low miles covered just over 30k and looks like it only came out when it was sunny, as the body work and sill are like new
I prefer pre face lift STR's, I just like the look better, I think they were built slightly better, had better brakes and had more equipment fitted
cheers
Joe
I think your right on the pre face lifts are better built, my 3.0 V6 2005 face lift is the worst S I have owned. After owning a 99, late 02 and 05, the 02 car was the best!

I think mine is £515 road tax (anything from March 2006 ?)
Is the pre-2006 road tax £290 per year ?
If so, only a cost difference of three tanks full of V-Power, if the right car comes along and happens to be in the higher tax bracket.
The cut off date is March 23rd.
Have a look at -

Note the note at bottom of table.

Hard for me to say based on what I paid for mine !
I think the price for that one is a bit strong based on the mileage but it does look a very nice car ?
Condition and service history rather than 'low' mileage would be my criteria, depending on price of course !
I found this one that seems a sensible asking price.
That is nice and good price. High road tax.

I think yours is worth (private sell) £1500-2000.

Here's a nice one -
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-S-TYPE-R-/252509722441?hash=item3acac09749:g:8iwAAOSw65FXu9la
Low tax with nice colour seats but is alot of cash for a 02 model!
-
Hi, That's high tax on that one £500+!
What about -
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-S-TYPE-R-/252509722441?hash=item3acac09749:g:8iwAAOSw65FXu9la
I don't think the red seats go with BRG!

Hi, I notice that all the cars you are looking at are on autotrader, 90% of the adds are traders so the cost is more (I don't trust and would not buy from one), why don't you look at private sales-

It could be the valley hose which is leaking which caused a vacuum!

My sisters Disco is newer still, and being that production of the S-Type finished in 2008, I guess all the later ones are within the £295 tax band?
No. My S would be in tax band M but because it was registered before 23st March 2006 it drops back into group K and costs £295.
See - https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/rates-for-cars-registered-on-or-after-1-march-2001
Read the note below the table.

My opinion Keith is better the devil you know, and your car looks good. Tax will be higher on newer ones as well I think 😉
Only on petrol models from 21st (I think) March 2006 onwards.
Better the devil you know but a car with a full mot is worth more that one with 6 mths.

Sounds like a great idea but can't see the point with my 3.0 litre. Then/if I get a R yes definitely!

I'm wrong again!
I will get my coat!

For interest have you serviced her and when did she last have plugs and coil packs? My V6 ran poorly under load until I changed these out on the difficult to access left bank, now she's revvy and sweet and about to have her 2nd oil service since I've had her. I'm going to add the sports exhausts I bought and I'm also considering a K&N panel filter this time around instead of the standard paper one .
There's not much else we can do modification wise to the V6, whereas there is a ton you can do to the supercharged V8, which is one of the reasons why I have to have one (eventually!) .
I heard stories about the Oil in k+n filters damaging map sensors.
-
Yes all 02 sensors changed from below, I changed one in about 10 minutes it took longer to get the car jacked up that changing it!
And yes at the price you paid I still would of brought it!
-
Yes very nice! And great price!
But for me I wouldn't buy a black car again.
-
Remember there is also vents under both front seats!
-
Nice one!
But yes where's the pictures?

I think we're all getting impatient! Can't wait to hear your next update (hopefully a positive one)
Steve
Yes we're getting impatient, just get on that train!
-
I had the same problem not long ago, and yes it changed it's self to Belgium.
Can't work out why then the car was built in the UK, you would think the uk would be default!

My pet hates with my s are -
Brake pedal being higher than accelerator pedal.
Gear knob different colour wood from dash.
Auto wipers that wiper far too much!
But still love the jaguar that's why it's my 3rd!
-
Well done!
Look forward to updates.

Yes it's the only route to take or else you can't use heater/climate control.
Remove the touch screen and the RCCM. The 2 plugs which plugged into the RCCM need to be rerouted to now plug into the std climate control panel.
You will also now not need the dvd drive in the boot.
