Hi Mark, that does sound very unusual to get a battery drain that fast. Have you checked the lights in the vanity mirrors behind the sun visors? If fitted, these lights on the vanity mirror stay lit all of the time if the sliding cover is not closed over, even when the sun visor is flipped back upwards. Obviously try and view your car in a dark space to see if there is any glow that can be spotted, but otherwise it would seem you can rule out courtesy lights. Do you have any other accessories installed that could be taking power when normally they should power down with the ignition off? Something like a dashcam? Finding a power drain is not a simple task unfortunately, especially when there is nothing obvious like something illuminated. Hidden drain on the battery could be the battery itself, try charging up the old / removed battery if you have it and connect it to the car via suitable jump leads, whilst having the newly installed battery disconnected. If the old battery also discharges rapidly, then your issue lies within the car and not the battery. N6 JMX

if you had tiny rattle at first then the damage was not done then, it was just the beggining of the chain problem. they f it up on replacement as there is no way it got worse after the replacement on it's own. you might be in for long and winded 'battle' with this one. i would go and look for 2nd opinion in good independent jag garage. and wouldnt be driving it either as the result might engine failure.

The SV8 was the top of the range XF from 2008-2009, using the 420 BHP version of the supercharged 4.2 V8 engine, which was used previously in the S-TYPE R, XJR and XKR models. The XFR came out in 2009, and used the newer 5.0 Supercharged V8 engine with 503 BHP. The SV8 was discontinued when the XFR was launched, hence it's rarity, only being in production for 1 year. It was marketed as a 'Luxury performance' version, hence not being badged as an 'R' model.

Hi all i have a 1996 xk8 , are there any easy fixes with the electric petrol cap . Mine has recently stopped working. I know how to manually open it but is there a common problem and easy fix for them . Hi David, you should be aware that in a normal braking system the fluid should be replaced every 2 years as brake fluid absorbs moisture and that is not good in a braking system. This would be why the garage did a brake fluid replacement during the service - it is standard every second service, N6 JMX

Hello I have a 1997 XK8. Last year it passed its MOT with no advisories. This year it has failed with major urgent issues including work requiring sub frame removal to deal with some holes. I cannot understand how none of this was picked up last year and how on earth can it go from passed MOT no advisories, to a huge failure in one year?! Anyway, I've been advised that the repairs needed will be more than the value of the car. It's such a gorgeous looking car and so I'm really sad about it. What's the best thing to do with it? Scrap it, or hope that an enthusiast would give me a bit more for it and do the work themselves? I'd be so grateful for advice.

If it's the same as the X250 door handles, the wires fatigue. I've repaired one with some servo wire!

Only a thought, but the two features showing as 'expired' (secure tracker and online data plan) only come with a 12 month subscription ? If you purchased your F-PACE in July last year, they will have expired this month, if you want to retain these features, you will need to pay the annual subscription. Think it is £240 per year for the Tracker and £120 per year for the data plan ?

2008 XFS V8 r supercharged for sale. I have had it for 5 years and had a lot of fun with it, but I am now retired so it's time to let it go. 2005 UK RHD Jaguar X-Type 3.0 V6 Sport Premium Estate Petrol Manual (now imported into Spain with Spanish registration). Two issues with door locks that may be co-incidental or linked in some way. Rear passenger door behind the UK RHD driver failing to unlock every time when using the remote control but unlocks OK when using the internal door lock handle. All three other doors unlock normally when using the remote control. Front driver´s door on the UK RHD side fails to unlock occasionally and only unlocks when the engine is turned off, the key removed and the car doors unlocked with the remote control from inside the car. Does anyone know how to resolve Issue 1, which I need to sort out before the next Spanish ITV (MOT) Test?

I would suggest you check the “alarm chirp sounder”. This is by and large the most common fault with discharging batteries. Disconnect it and then see if the battery dies.

Good call, check the simple and easy fix stuff first. The breather would be an obvious thought. N6 JMX
