unknown plate just below head light
LairdScooby replied to Dave Winter's topic in Jaguar F-Pace Club
It sounds like the cover on the hedlamp washers, should be safe enough to push back on if so but it might be the clip holding it has broken. -
Suspension ball joint rubber covers
LairdScooby replied to Bikepianopete's topic in XK / XKR (X150) 2006 - 2014
Yes, kits are available on ebay and/or your local motor factor relatively cheaply, usually about a fiver. However, if there is wear in the ball joint often it's is quicker and easier to renew complete, you'd need to look/check and see what the situation is. -
Hi does anyone know of someone who can help me with the delamination of my dash?
-
Dear All, I hope someone can help me please..................... I have a Sept 19 (20MY) XE with the 10 inch (no side button) In Control Pro \ Touch Pro system. I did a system reset due to it becoming slow and in some case stuck on even when leaving and locking the car, but now, my system is not connecting to the internet. When I turn on the Mobile Data in the Connectivity section in settings, all it gives me is: "Sim Not Supported" I have tried all the standard things such as: Removing the sim, cleaning the sim and re-inserting the sim The sim IS inserted correctly The Sim is a 3 network Data Only sim that has 22gb left and is valid until June 27 The sim works 100% as I have tried it in my tablet and it connects as 4g and works to stream video etc.. Before I did the system reset, it connected and worked fine and also connected at 4g Prior to the reset I also checked to make sure there were no software updates for either the car or the entertainment system and it was all up to date. In addition, I have lost the the live options such as being able to see the weather etc, even if I connect via my mobile phone using a hotspot, I've pulled out the module in the centre console and all connections are fine. I've also pulled the F24 (Telematics) fuse that someone advised me to that was supposed to invoke a re-boot? But still all the same problem. So, How is the IMC (Infotainment Master Controller)recovery done? Can I do it, or does it have to go to a Dealer or Indy specialist to be connected up to Jag? Is there a way of invoking it at home, or putting it back to a previous version and then doing the updates again? Everything else on the system is working, and it also connects to the internet via my home Wi-fi when I'm parked outside so I have got all my personal settings back on including my In Control account and personal profile etc. As a further update, I have now tried the following things to try and get my Sim Card to work: Ensured my battery is fully charged - No change Tried a Ubigi card supplied by Jag from my sisters E-Pace which is active and connecting in the E-Pace - No Change Disconnected my cars battery and left it for approx 3 hours - No Change When I reconnected my battery, whilst the car had forgotten the time and date, all of my other ICT settings and memory such as phone, radio stations, and my profile were all still there. My car does connect to my home Wi-Fi whilst I am sat on my drive, so I am able to get my system up and running, but obviously as soon as I leave home, I'm disconnected. Ironically, I also tried connecting my car wirelessly to a hot spot from my mobile, but the car didn't see it, hence why I connected to my home wi-fi. So, whatever I try, when I attempt to turn on Mobile Data in the Connectivity section of the General Settings menu, all I get is "SIM CARD NOT SUPPORTED" If I take the Sim out, it says "READING SIM" Any ideas on how I can get it working again please other than having to go to a dealer and pay for it to be plugged in? I have attached screen images of my current software and also the sim not supported message I get. Regards, Dave

2.5 Petrol 2002 X-type not starting after 1 month's storage
LairdScooby replied to Sean 2.5's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
It's normally just behind the crankshaft pulley on the front of the engine. It's secured by a cap screw (5mm key as i recall, it's a Metric fastener so don't try a 3/16" Allen key as it will round out) and is awkward to get at but possible laying under a securely supported car. Patience is needed and a smear of silicone grease on the new "O" ring on the new sensor to help it slide in nicely. If the plug is dodgy as they deteriorate with age, you may want to go for what's known as a service kit that comes with a new plug with fly leads and you cut and connect them to the loom further back from the deteriorated area around the plug. Here are a few choices from Rock Auto : https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/jaguar,2002,x-type,2.5l+v6,1381182,ignition,crankshaft+position+sensor,7196 Good luck and hopefully that is the cause of your non-start. -
Hi all. I have 2 engine serial numbers, beginning with PA & PB. Is there a way to tell what model of engine they are please to find out the engine size?

I am pleased to announce that the Scottish Jaguar Enthusiasts' Day will take place on Saturday the 6th of June 2026 at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, (The Transport Museum). Entry will cost £10 per vehicle and pre-registration is required. All monies raised will be used to support our chosen charity for 2026, which is Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA). The event in 2025 raised nearly£2,000 for the charity. Plus a great day out was had by everyone who came along, exhibitors and visitors alike. For those of you who have not visited the Riverside Museum, it is a fantastic building with a stunning collection of Scotland’s transport history, plus it has a permanently moored Tall Ship, The Glenlee on the River Clyde, immediately adjacent to the Riverside – actually on the quayside of the museum. In addition, the newly opened Partick to Govan pedestrian bridge allows easy access to the attractions on the south side of the River Clyde. Accordingly, there is lots to see and do. Plus, there is a restaurant and café onsite as well. For “the other half” that may wish to experience the retail therapy that Glasgow – the Second City of the Empire - can offer, rather than chat about the fabulous Jaguars on display, there is a regular bus service from the front of the museum to the heart of the city and return. More details available and register by contacting Jim Mann by email at [email protected] N6 JMX

Hi Paul, welcome to the wonderful world of Jaguar motoring and to the Forum. I can confirm the NC500 is a great outing with lots of Scotland's magnificent scenery on offer. I am also sure that there are great driving roads closer to your home in Antrim where you can cut your teeth and get used to the feelings the Jaguar gives you and your new wife. If you want to get adventurous, then I would suggest planning a trip to Lake Garda in Northern Italy. Don't take the conventional route of getting across to the Continent and heading down through France before hanging a right at Lyon though, go for a North about route, taking in Belgium / Holland, Germany, and Austria before entering Northern Italy through the Brenner Pass. You can take your time with plenty of stopovers in some great locations, try Autobahn, Autostrada and N roads, whichever takes your fancy. Once at Lake Garda, there are many picturesque villages, with great hotels and restaurants to while away the restful time. This is a trip my wife and I have undertaken over 20 times in the last 30 years and we still keep going back, it's a great trip to a great location. And, depending on your time and resources, you can make such a trip as long as you want. Enjoy. N6 JMX

Window moulding retaining plastic clips
SAILOR JIM replied to SAILOR JIM's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Hi Dave, thanks for reply. I am after the white plastic clips that hold the stainless trim in place at the top of the door. I have tried a couple of clips from ebay but they are not the correct size and local Jaguar service agent says very hard to find! Thanks Jim -
That was my Thinking. He must of been more proactive with the car rather than reactive. Hence why the MOT has never had a significant issue. I’ll reach out to Rustbusters and get a rough cost. thank you for your help it’s been greatly appreciated

Thank you, that was my thoughts too so I think it over and place a couple of classified adds.

You could try Jagutek at Ely - not used them myself but heard a lot of good reports about them. https://jagutek.co.uk/ Welcome to the forum too!

I've just purchased my first XF 2010 and, whilst I'm very happy so far, I'm not happy with tyre pressure sensors giving me period warnings. I know they're a safety issue but I am OCD about tyre pressures and I can live without the monitoring. Is there an easy way to disable the monitoring system?

My 2008 Jaguar XK 4.2 V8 Coupe has covered 167,755 miles, but still drives like a dream, and in December went through a full service and MOT. It has the 20" Senta alloys, paired with premium Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres fitted in late 2023. The engine still runs perfectly and the suspension feels in great shape too. The interior is clean and comfortable, with wear to the leather consistent with the mileage. This car has been maintained regardless of cost, with significant preventative maintenance carried out: - Dec 2025 (Current): Fresh MOT and Full Service just completed, with EGR Valve and coolant tank replaced. - Feb 2025: Renewed both rear brake discs + brake pads + brake calipers. - Dec 2024: Full Service including brake & fluid change. - Dec 2023: Renewed rear driver’s side suspension rod. - Nov 2023: Full Service + fitted 3x Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 premium tyres + had full 4-wheel alignment carried out + renewed rear right stabiliser link. - Sep 2019: Massive overhaul addressing common big-ticket items. This included new front lower control arms ("banana arms"), rear upper wishbones, O/S/R lower wishbone, new alternator, engine mounts, and rear brake discs/pads. I wish I could keep this car, to be frank, but I need something more practical now to start a family. You will be very happy with it! Notes: - As is common with the split-rim Senta alloys, the rims are showing lacquer peel/cosmetic corrosion (see photos). They are structurally completely sound, though - The headliner adhesive is no longer holding, so it's now secured with same-color pins. ------------------ PRICE: £4,950 LOCATION: Guildford, Surrey CONTACT: Message on here and we can arrange a viewing and/or test drive!

I wonder if by adding the lights he's inadvertently fixed the fault? He should know what i mean by that. Also, i'd suggest selling the Merc and buying a Honda if you want reliability. A friend of mine does a lot of work for a Merc indy, just as something to keep him busy in his early retirement and they have a lot of electrical faults. I know Jags have their fair amount but to be honest, less than most other brands.

Engine options in the XE are: 2.0, 4 cylinder Ingenium diesel (in various power outputs) 2.0, 4 cylinder petrol (early cars used a Ford engine, then a 2.0 Ingenium was used), again in a variety of power outputs. 3.0 V6 Supercharged petrol engine on the 'S' models, 340ps initially, then uprated to 380ps. There isn't a 2.2 engine available in the XE. Personally, petrol all day long for low mileage use.

An odd problem. My XJ L has electric door window blinds fitted. The rear passenger nearside one goes up but then immediately goes down. Any suggestions.

Hi. Now getting the boot isnt locked (when it is) problem and also battery low turn on engine sign. Tried leaving battery disconnected/reconnected. I am not a mechanic - so bear with me when I say I cannot find the coolant temp sensor location on my 2019 2.0 diesel. Ive also seen and lost 🙈some advice on taking an ECU fuse out to hard reset in case its a software/ECU thing. Any help well received. Great forum.
