  3. I ran a quick check for fault codes today and one that shows up as a permanent error is "Windshield Misting sensor" Does anyone know what this is ? every works and I cant seem to find it in any parts search that i do online other than people suggest headlight or wiper sensors but both these functions are working fine. Thanks Ian
  4. Brilliant! Thanks for that, she’s booked in for a battery swap on Weds. Hopefully that will mean I’ll be able to just enjoy the drive against and rack up the smiles per miles!!
  5. Hi Robert, there are 2 obvious answers to try. 1. Have you looked in the handbook wallet, typically there should be a security card with the various numbers and identifiers included. It is typically credit card sized. 2. Go back to the original selling dealership, or at least the dealer you purchased the car from. Failing those 2 options, you would need to visit a Jaguar dealer (if you can now find one) and have them unlock the security file for the TV. N6 JMX
  6. i have just purchased a xj portfolio and it requires a pin number for the tv.has anyone any idea how i can get this
  7. Hi Adrian, welcome to the wonderful world of Jaguar XKR motoring. As a new owner, do you know the age of your car's battery in the boot? The symptoms you are describing are what is expected with a battery that is not quite up to the task any more. In today's modern vehicles with lots of electronics and computers involved, the battery voltage stability is ALL important. No longer is the ability of the battery to start the car the definitive sign that the battery is healthy. Voltage spikes below 12V are the likely cause of your spurious messages and warning lights. If you are unsure of the battery's provenance, then I would get it changed soonest as the frustration will only increase. As a "rule of thumb", the battery is suspect after 5 years, so even if you have it tested at a garage and it indicates "green", if you don't know its age, go for a replacement. N6 JMX
  8. Hi Steve, I am in Banchory. A number of us from the Grampian Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club will be meeting at the Raemoir Garden Centre in Banchory on Sunday, the 11th of May 2025, from 10:00 onwards until 11:00. This for a coffee and chat ahead of a drive out to lunch on the Lecht Ski Road. N6 JMX
  9. Yes I did adjust to every possible position and check the electrics were working but I couldn’t get my legs underneath the wheel. I may even take a punt on it and get the owner to test drive it with me-and get him to deliver it to my mechanic to do the work to adjust the seat, not something I’m capable of doing.
  10. Hello all, I thought I would post a quick update on the Mr12Volt installation in my XK. I had it carried out very swiftly and carefully by Elite and Performance Jags in Derby (£575 including installation) they also managed to thread the USB cable through into the armrest box so I could run music or load firmware updates from there, which is excellent (I thought I would lose USB connectivity) you can access the USB through the old Jag screen. For a while I had an amusing moment where in Android Auto I was playing one piece of music and then when I switched to the old Jag screen I had a different piece of music playing! That caused some confusion until I realised the Android Auto was playing music from my phone, the old Jag system from the USB stick! Problem solved by taking the USB stick out as I found I didn't need it as the car can access the music libraries stored on my phone perfectly. A month on all I can say is that this is a superb update for my XK, Android Auto (there is also Apple carplay) it starts immediately I switch the car on and I have full access to Waze and Google maps (and music apps etc) through the standard screen (no more phones or add on screens blocking the controls or wobbling and falling off their cradles). If you press the home button you can switch to the old Jaguar screen and back again. Quirks? sometimes I have to restart the Bluetooth on my phone to get Android Auto to connect and getting out of the car my phone remains locked to Bluetooth (no sound through earpiece or phone speaker until I select it) but as soon as I walk away from the car the phone corrects itself (I think the cars Bluetooth remains active for a few minutes after stopping which is useful if you just stop for a brief time such as to refuel as Waze etc. remains active and remembers its settings for a while). Phone calls can be answered through Android Auto, Steering Wheel controls all work, sound system working perfectly (and you have more options for adjusting the sound too) reversing camera working, heated and cooled seats work, heated windscreen working and the jags nav screen has a saturation option to beef up colours and I'm sure the display is slightly sharper now. The only issue I am really battling with is occasional echo of callers voices (they hear and echo of their own voices) I think this is an Android Auto issue but I'm still working on this. I have also fitted a glass anti reflection screen protector (as you would on a phone) and that has really improved legibility of the screen in bright conditions, its not perfect, by I can now see the screen in daylight most of the time whereas before with my cars light beige seats the screen was basically unusable in daylight (see below photo taken in strong sunshine - much clearer). All in all a superb upgrade to the XK.

  12. hi all s-types have the same wheel base so later ones wont be different some S-type have adjustable pedals, which will only give you a extra few inches, did you lift the steering column and send the steering wheel in aswell as mentioned you could make adapter plates. cheers Joe
  13. Hi Jim, good to (virtually) meet you. Good idea, I'm in Aberdeen. You?
  14. Hey guys, new member and new owner here! I’ve just bought a 2010 Xkr and have been loving every moment of driving her until now. Within the last week I randomly get a performance restricted message popping up, closely followed by DSc unavailable message. Sometimes the eml light comes on other times it doesn’t. Shutting the car down and restarting seems to clear it. I had this issue yesterday, getting a bit frustrated and with a clear road in front I floored the throttle and the error message went away!! Does anyone know what could be going on?
  15. Good day evryone I am from Cape Town have a X Type 2,.2 SW 2007. My Radio system & climate control is off. The CD Display shows 50-51 code. Would like to ask help to create a cd to upgrade the entire system. Kind regards Rui Santos Caoe Town [email protected]
  16. Hi Steve, not a problem I have experienced myself, but it is possible to have brackets fabricated to reposition the seat as this is a regular requirement in racing circles. Most seats in a modern car are secured to the chassis by 2 bolts in each of the 2 runners - therefore 4 in total. What is required is a bracket under each runner that is secured using the existing body holes and allows for the runners to be attached further back. If you search for a race car preparation facility near your location you may well be pleasantly surprised. Won't hep with the test drive of course, but check around on the site - folks love their S-types. N6 JMX
  17. Hi David, I am not an X-type owner myself, but I have used the parts website in the past to find applicable part numbers by carefully considering the diagrams with the view of the engine bay in real time. What I'm saying is that it needs a bit of detective work to ensure you are looking at the correct location in the engine bay compared to the parts diagram. Additionally, you need to bear in mind that your hose no longer looks exactly like the diagrams since someone has chopped a length off and grafted in a short extension - that is giving you the issues. Perhaps it's a case of determining the start and end points for your offending pipe / hose and checking with a local garage to ask if they can tell you what it's actually called. The photos are not really clear enough to show the details, hence the need for the actual parts to be looked at. I note you are in Dorset, which is a large county of course, but there is an excellent independent Jaguar garage relatively close by, see the link below: Swallows Jaguar Specialist | Servicing, Performance & Motorsport for JLR They are in Rooksbridge, near Bristol. 18. Hey guys, am new here and thought I would seek your advice, I have always loved the S Type and went to go and have a look at 2003 3.0 V6 to find I couldn’t fit into it at 6’9”, the seat just doesn’t go back far enough, is there a way to extend the runners or remove and place further back to accommodate me, the only bummer is that I can’t test drive one. I dont care about the passenger behind because this is for me, my tiny wife and daughter who can sit behind her. I see the latest post 2006 models have a longer wheel base but then it’s falling into the stupid tax category. I don’t know if anyone else has this problem?? Thanks for your time in reading Scott
  19. Hi Steve, just noticed that your location in the profile is given as "Aberdeenshire", same as myself. Might be worthwhile catching up at some point to compare notes. N6 JMX

  23. Welcome
  24. Hi Jim and many thanks for your reply. That's a really detailed and well put together website (probably too much in fact) as I can't find the part anywhere... 😞 I've looked under the headings of "Air and fuel Delivery Systems", as well as "Engine", and then drilled down further to each of the individual sub headings, and then the specific parts as well. But unless I missed it, I couldn't find it. Am I looking in the right place??? D.
  25. Hi David, the link below will take you to the Jaguar Classic Parts site (X-type pages) where you can browse until your heart's content to find the correct part number for the piece you need. X-type 2001 - 2010 (x400) Classic | Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts N6 JMX
  26. Hi all, David here. Very long story cut very very short... I have a 2.1L Petrol X-Type that had the dreaded error code P0174. The first garage I took it to saw there were two areas where air was escaping and quite literally "bodged" something together to make it work (whilst charging me handsomely in the process). One of which was an old piece of rubber hose that they cut down to replace the original hose under the manifold cover which had split. Unbeknown to me at the time, the length they cut was barely long enough to sit snugly as it should do onto the next pipe which it connects to. They didn't even use Jubilee clips to hold it in place - it just sat there, barely connected!!! I later discovered this issue and did a temporary fix with the clips as you can see in the photos until I could get round to sorting it out myself. However, the clips keep undoing themselves through to the vibration in day to day driving and as such, the air is escaping again. I now need to get the correct type of hose to replace this bodged piece with and would be grateful if anyone could please provide me with a part number and / or a supplier from which I can get one from. Any questions, feel free to shout. Many thanks in advance. David.
  27. Done. Thanks, I didn't look for that until you posted.
