  2. Hi all. I have what I consider to be quite a rare Jaguar. Because I can not find many for sale. I have a XF sportbrake AWD 240hp twin turbo 2.0l diesel. I love it. Its huge, massive load area, very comfortable, almost economical ( just over 42mpg) and well equiped for a R-Sport.

  4. Two Visionaries. One Ethos. Ninety Years Apart Jaguar marks 90 years of fearless design with a poignant moment: SS Jaguar and the brand’s most recent release, Type 00, appear outside The Chancery Rosewood. The property’s fusion of mid‑century, modernist lines and contemporary British artistry reflects Jaguar’s own artistic endeavour. Together, these two vehicles — separated by nine decades yet united by vision — represent the exodus from tradition in their respective eras. The SS Jaguar, a car that established the Jaguar brand in its time, and Type 00, a car that rethinks what a Jaguar can be today. "Jaguar has always been a pioneer of originality—defined by design excellence and a fearless, forward‑thinking spirit. Ahead of the launch of our production vehicle next year it’s vital we continue to remind people of what makes Jaguar unique: being bold, unexpected, and unapologetically different. With Type 00, we’re challenging conventions in the automotive industry, just as the SS Jaguar did in its time." RAWDON GLOVER. DIRECTOR, JAGUAR 90 YEARS OF JAGUAR The SS Jaguar: The first model to carry the Jaguar name. The SS Jaguar exemplifies Sir William Lyons’ original philosophy: Copy Nothing. With its low roofline and elongated bonnet, the SS Jaguar was a bold departure from convention of the early 1900s. When most British cars were upright and utilitarian, the SS Jaguar introduced a sleek, low‑slung silhouette with a long bonnet and flowing lines. Jaguar Type 00 is an example of Jaguar at its best. A fearless statement. An object of desire. A concept with bold forms and exuberant proportions to inspire future Jaguars. From the SS Jaguar to the F‑Type, every era in Jaguar’s history has produced an icon that refused to blend in—XK120 set speed records, E‑Type redefined beauty, XJS bridged luxury and performance, and F‑Type reignited sports car desire. Jaguar has never followed the ordinary; it has always led with elegance, daring design, and performance that stirs the soul. Jaguar’s latest expression of modern luxury appears in ‘London Red’, a bespoke hue inspired by the enduring beauty of redbrick Victorian architecture in London’s most influential boroughs, the rich elegance of red gallery walls designed to make artwork standout, and iconic symbols of London that range from crimson phone boxes to the red double decker bus. London Red is a tribute to timeless artistry and bold design, handcrafted by Jaguar's in‑house materiality team. Article courtesy of the official Jaguar website https://www.jaguar.co.uk/

  7. I would suggest you drive it somewhere very carefully where someone with more mechanical skills can assess the problem. Several possible causes come to mind such as air in the system, dirty/old fluid, siezed calipers, weak/broken seal in master cylinder - there are many other possibilities. It would need to be seen/diagnosed by someone rather than "remote diagnostics" on the forum. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  8. My x type 2.5 AWD auto has braking issues. When car is cold brakes barely stop the car. When I pump go and stop numerous times the brakes come back to life and are ok the rest of the day. Any ideas on what the problem could be?
  9. Hi Paul Given those tyres are likely to be north of £600 per corner (when you can get them!), unless you are desperate to keep the original wheels I would be looking to replace with a set of 15" or 16" alloys which will probably cost less a lot less that the R390s. https://iconicalloys.co.uk/ https://www.imagewheels.co.uk/ Good luck John
  10. Almost certainly the fob buttons are worn. They can be replaced by an eBay kit and swapped with some soldering. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172182298119
  11. Does the removal of Gerry McGovern, the architect of the woke advert and rebranding, have any deeper meaning in the future of JLR? He is the JLR Executive that stood on the podium (almost 1 year ago) at the unveiling of the Type 00 and stated that Jaguar was not interested in its heritage customers! This did create a bit of outrage at the time, but was shushed over by others in support of the woke approach. Coincidental that the new CEO - from the Tata parent group, replacing Mardell, has only just taken full control of the company when McGovern departure is announced? N6 JMX
  12. Hi Paul, your problem is the fact that your "new" car is fitted with metric sized wheels, which was somewhat of a failed experiment back in those days - mostly affects BMW. As the other "Jim" has outlined above, you should be able to get replacements from Longstone, although you may have to wait on incoming stock. Quite rightly though, you should not be driving on tyres manufactured in the late 1980's. N6 JMX
  13. Hi Paul, this website may have the information you need or even the tyres; https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/jaguar/xj40.html

  15. Evening All, I have a rather nice new to me 1989 XJ40 arriving early next week, the seller told me the tyres on the car are still the original tyres supplied new with the car in 1989! He reckons they are still in great condition but really i dont think i should be considering using them at all. So, i tried all the usual online tyre sellers plus our local tyre dealers only to find that replacements for the originals still on the car are just about as scarce as rocking horse....... The originals on the car are DUNLOP 220 / 65 / R390 Can any of you good people out there help in trying to steer me in the right direction to find some replacements. Thanks, Paul.
  16. Wardy, I found it was the relay in the engine fuse box that wasn't properly pushed in. It fired up straight away after I did this! Tim
  17. Thanks
  18. It's really just the one contact that poses the problem, the one you can see above the battery when it's in place. Gently bend it in towards the battery, whilst you have the battery out of the slot, to move it to give a firmer contact. Also rub some emery paper across the inside face - gently - to aid the contact. Also, be sure to purchase quality battery replacements from a reputable source. The CR2032 bought from online sources can be duds. N6 JMX
  19. First thing i would do is pull and refit all the light fuses for the lights concerned. Over time, corrosion builds on the fuse blades, pulling them out and refitting cleans them. If the problem comes back, renew the fuses. If it still comes back, put another post up as it will be something deeper.
  20. The lights on my xf keep going out. there is a set time before they go out as if the timer is stuck on, the position on the stork is on auto or lights on it’s a nightmare when driving any ideas for remedy
  21. Have you checked the CPS (Crank Position Sensor)? They have a habit of going with no warning, no spark and Jaguar want a small fortune for them. However you can get them on ebay for ~£15, i did for my S Type 3.0 which uses the same as most petrol V8s/V6s, the Ford Thunderbird and Lincoln LS of similar years. They're a bit of a faff to change but a relatively cheap and easy fix, best approached from underneath so a good jack and axle stands are needed.
  22. I'm assuming when you say "bearing" you actually mean the plastic bushes in the linkage? If so, try this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/146139281240 I bought a similar kit for my Honda CR-V some 2-3 years ago and it's working as well now as it did when i fitted it after a similar game to yours of replacing the entire linkage and motor assembly only to find it came from a Japanese (instead of Swindon like mine) built CR-V so had some wiring problems. Glad you mentioned this as mine is starting to wear on my '99 S Type so i had to search for the part you need and the part i need! With absolutely no sarcasm intended, thanks for having this problem! It's what the forum is all about - one person has a problem without an immediate solution but someone, somewhere has and has the easy solution.
  23. What was the issue ?? As I have no spark
  24. Hi, I wonder whether anyone can help with this.. I need new linkages for my wiper motor as the bearings (on what was a replacement part) are worn out. I can't see that just the linkages can be found anywhere on eBay without the motor, so presume I will need to get another full kit. But the question is whether what Trico describe as a "2R83-17500-BA" is the same as a "1R83-17500-BA" (or "1R83-17500-BC" or "2R83-17500-BB etc.)?!
  25. Many thanks for the suggestion but doing this is beyond my own skill level! I will let a Jaguar mechanic have a go. Dennis G
  26. That sounds like you may have a dodgy height sensor (one on each corner) and it's ok until it warms up and then breaks the connection. You might fix it by unplugging all the sensors and spraying the plugs connector pins with contact cleaner then reconnecting/disconnecting several times and a last spray of contact cleaner before reconnecting the last time. This by its very nature will be a temporary fix and the problem is likely to come back if it effects a fix to start with. However it might confirm that's where the fault lies.
  27. Turns out that I have pretty much the same problem with both of my fobs; one worse than the other. Almost surely to do with the contacts, however I have not a clue about how to do anything to clean/fix them. Has anyone ever managed to solve this?
  28. Good evening. I have recently acquired a 2003 XJ6 and have a strange warning light issue relating to the air suspension. After the car has been driven for about an hour, the warning light comes on saying there is a fault with the air suspension. If the car is parked for an hour or more, the warning light does not show when the engine is started again but then, as above, returns after an hour or so! Very curious. As a layman, I would have thought the light would be permanently on if there is an actual fault. Has anybody had a similar issue? Thanks Dennis G
