  2. A similar problem can be caused if the rotary gear selection switch on the outside of the gearbox is not quite in the correct position. On mine this was caused by hardened grease on the switch. A good clean up and regrease cured it. The fault happened most frequently when changing from "R" to "D," gear would be stuck in either first or second, could never decide which. A clue to check if this is the problem is to look at the lights on the Gear Selector. If the light is not illuminating ( P, D. N. R. etc ) this could be the cause. If this is the case you can move the Gear Selector back and forth, quite forcibly, until the light illuminates indicating the selected gear.
  3. Hi David. This is what I got albeit in a one Litre bottle, about £10 as I remember from eBay a few years ago, lools like the price may have increased now, suprise suprise. It's ready mixed so ready to go. In the pic it looks a bit reddish but mine is orange so I'm assuming this is the same. Just had a QUICK look and found this 5 Litre bottle for about £35 and a 1 Litre bottle for about £17, a more diligent search may find better deals . Hope this helps, cheers, Nige.
  4. Hi Peter, for the rear wiper motor, you can try the Jaguar Classic Parts site to look up part numbers and availability as an original part, or you could contact any of the specialist Jaguar Breakers such as Auto Reserve. I am assuming that you have already checked the fuses for the rear wiper motor - it may be on the same circuit as the rear parking sensors and therefore explain why both are inoperable. If you have the wiper motor out of the car, you could test it on the bench with a 12V power supply or battery, and you could also get along to your local Breakers yard to show them what you are looking for. Chances are it will be common to other vehicles, particularly Land Rover or Ford. Parking sensors will click when operational - put the car in reverse with the ignition on, but obviously don't start the engine, or use an assistant. By listening with the screwdriver / stethoscope method, you should be able to hear the individual sensors clicking away. No click equals not working. If the whole array is silent, check that the sensor is switched on - it can be switched off at the console and of course that the fuse is good. N6 JMX
  5. Hi Geoff, I would suggest that your number plate for sale would best be listed in the "FOR SALE" section of the Forum. One more post to the "Car Care" section and your post disappears from view and folks are hardly going to go looking for on sale items in a car care section when there is an actual For Sale section. 7. Nice did you get something in the end and was it ready mixed with water or to be mixed please?
  8. Nice did you get something in the end and was it a mix with water version or a premixed one please? I have a 2012 XKR and it’s a mine field trying to get the right stuff without forking out at a main dealership.

  10. Hi, I've bought a 2013 Jag XF Sportbrake, but it needs a few repairs to make it perfect. I need to replace the rear wiper motor, and I need to figure out why the rear parking sensors refuse to work. Any advice, or part numbers for the motor? I was hoping, given the provenance of the car, that a more common estate car rear wiper motor might do the trick.

  12. Hi David, I’ve had hoses made for me for other models by Derby Performance Hoses. They were surprisingly well priced and they even offered custom colours etc. The last order was a set of silicone hoses for SWB 2006 Mitsubishi Shogun, not exactly a common request, yet they had the tools at hand and were willing to make or adapt tools if they hadn’t. They actually supplied me quicker than the off the peg shops and at much the same price but in the colour of my choice ( I wanted black and all those offered elsewhere were neon so not exactly subtle ) Worth a try. Actually, I just checked. It’s the engine breather pipe and they sell one for the 2.5L V6 for £15 so yours should be similar 🙂
  13. Hello I have a 2013 xf with the standard stereo speaker system. If I purchased a set of b and w speakers with amplifier could I just swop the speakers with mine would the speakers fit and the cabling be the same?

  20. Hey all, so I’m new on here and wanted to help out a non car enthusiast mate, (but he has owned a a jag XK from new, and has put 215,000 kms on it). I’m not a jag driver (M2 current ride) - but I do have a soft spot for F Types, and potentially thinking of switching to one in future. so I don’t have too much details yet, but essentially he’s having engine issues (causing a spark plug to fly out of the engine). Essentially he wants to keep the car (sentimental value) but I think the engines not being too reliable at mo. whats the best course of action? I suggested a full rebuild but I don’t know anything about the 4.2 litre v8s? Are they worth rebuilding and could they last another 100-200k with a proper rebuild? or could he find a low mileage engine transplant and where’s the best place to source one? OR is there another alternative I’m not think of (and no that’s doesn’t involve buying a new car) what cost could a complete rebuild be at? And who would be a reputable garage (ideally down south) to fix this.
  21. Evening folks, new member and new first time owner here! Just wanted to say that thanks for having me and introducing my new big cat!! She’s a 2010 5l supercharged v8 Xkr😃
  22. Many thanks for your advice. Will follow it and report results. At 80 I am reluctant to travel to our nearest Jaguar repair garage, so as a retired C.Eng. I will have another go as I can't leave the car in any public place. Have temporarily covered the window with a plastic sheet but can only use lock without alarm
  23. had a similar problem on the same gearbox of a previous XK but cannot remember the solution Any advice on this topic much appreciate
  24. Excellent, weather is looking fine. There will be Jaguar reserved parking at the Raemoir Garden Centre on Sunday morning. It will be on the left side of the car park as you come through the gate, turn left, left and left to park with the others. We will be in the café part if no owners milling around. N6 JMX
