  2. If you are referring to the button in the middle of the boot plinth then that is another boot release switch. It is a push button switch. If it looks as though it is stuck in then try to release it with a watchmaker’s screwdriver. With reference to the key lock, how far can you turn the key when inserted. If you’re not able to turn far enough then it won’t unlock. Try WD40 and then working the lock, it may be gunged up through lack of use.
  3. For anyone who is wondering... Beneath the fuel filter is a connector that this blue socket fits into. Oddly in my car (XF X250) although the connector is there, there are no pins to mate with this socket so redundant. I assume some modules fuel filters have an electrical connection to this plug but mine doesn't.

  5. Thank you for your interest Jimbov8 Believe me, I am using the black key only, it will not clear the Valet mode or open the the boot between the hole xk8, I am coming to the conclusion that the fob is not talking to the car, even though I have changed the battery twice and reprogramed both fobs twice The red button in the boot, if someone as pressed it down, I don't know any way into the boot I don't know why the red button is there Thanks Eddie
  6. Cheers John you would have thought it to be standard for a car
  7. Some more info on the keys; The one on the left is the Valet key; on the right is one of the Black 'all function' keys. Not a lot of difference in the photo On the Valet key, the Green head is near enough the same shade as the surround of the Jaguar emblem in the centre. The Black key should be a contrast. If you look at the tip of the Valet key, it's different from the Black keys. The Black keys have a 'collar' cut round the tip which the Valet key doesn't. This shows up in the photo

  9. I have a year 2000 Jag S Type 3ltr V6 Auto. It has the metal gearbox pan, not the plastic all in one filter type. There is a lot of conflicting info about but what fluid should I use to do a filter and fluid change. Is it mineral or synthetic and can anyone give me an idea of where to get it without paying over the top, which Ive also heard is quite common. Thanks in advance for any info you can help with.
  10. Ok 👍 I do unlock the car using the black key, and that setts the alarm off My fob does not work, I have changed the battery and reprogramed and still it will not come out of Valet mode, believe me I have tried everything to try to get out of Valet mode and unlock the boot All have FAILED DESPERATE Regards Eddie
  11. Hello Dennis, I am looking at your car and getting interested in the possibility of buying it. I have a few questions: 1. Still available? 2, If the answer to 1 is yes, please confirm current mileage? 3. Please confirm how many owners including yourself? 4. How long in your ownership? 5. The MOT history looks really good with no mention of any corrosion, however please let me know if you have had any corrosion correction work done. Finally, if you have them please send me more pictures of the car showing the engine bay, boot area and underside. Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Paul.
  12. Did you ever get to the bottom of this?
  13. Keep us updated as to how you get on.🤙
  14. Yes it will as it is purely mechanical.🙄
  15. Hi Mark Pretty sure by 2019 that CD player was optional. Easiest solution is to use bluetooth to connect to your phone and listen to spotify etc... John
  16. Oils are difficult to get right. You can spend hours on line reading about the different varieties of oil and the different specs etc and only end up with less knowledge than what you started with . My general rule with oils is get the specification as close as you can and by a good quality oil... sorry I cant be more helpful than that
  17. I’ve just bought a 2019 xf s sportbrake 3.0d and I can’t find the cd player
  18. I think on a 2001 XK the keyhole is on the lower right hand side of the bootlid, where the chrome badge is ?
  19. Hi Rebecca, assuming you can get into the car itself, open the bonnet. There you will find a suitable positive and negative post to allow you to fit a 12v power source, such as a battery charger or power pack. This will allow the whole car to power up and you will be able to pop open the boot, using the interior switch or boot lid button, to put the charger leads direct onto the battery. Do not try and start the car from a flat battery situation using the under bonnet posts. I don't believe the secret keyhole will work with a completely flat battery as it still relies on the electrical solenoid to energise the unlock circuit. N6 JMX
  20. Hi Eddie, the information said to unlock the driver's door with the black key - nothing about starting the car with the black key. N6 JMX

  22. You should be able to find a "secret" keyhole just under the chrome plinth on the bootlid - using the key to unlock the boot there should get you in.
  23. Hi all, New member here looking for advice! I have an 2001 XKR with a flat battery which unfortunately means I currently am unable to get into the boot to the battery. Does anyone have any tips/tricks as how to get into the boot without forcing it open? Or to charge the battery without access? Thanks in advance, Rebecca
  24. Cheers and thanks for your help
  25. Hi N6jmx I have tried the black key to start the car, failed 😕 the boot is still locked Thanks Eddie
  26. Hi Jimbov8 Very useful I will try that one through the grommet, when the rain stops If the red button as been pressed down, there no way to it when the boot is locked, because of the fittings around it Thanks Eddie
  27. Hi Eddie, watch this video from 4 mins in, it may help you get in.
  28. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust may be able to fill in some background for the car. An email to them with as much information as possible may bear some more details.
  29. Hi Eddie, if I remember correctly, the XK8 has a "Valet" button on the fob which must have been activated - pressed inadvertently. To reset out of Valet mode, you need to unlock the car - driver's door, from fully locked, using the black headed key - not any of the fobs. For some reason, this information is not contained in the Owners Manual. N6 JMX
