Anyone remapped a 5.0 (naturally aspirated) XK?
Garry1127 replied to Garry1127's topic in Jaguar Technical
I've been looking further into remapping my XK 5.0 NA. There is an interesting variation in how much power increase I would get from remapping the 5.0 NA engine. Superchips 28hp. Celtic tuning 30hp increase. Remap Kings 28hp increase. Hyper chips 29hp increase. But there are many others saying only a 20hp increase. Mallory Performance 20hp increase. Quantum 20hp increase. Avon Tuning 20hp increase. Chip Tuners 20hp increase. My question to the more knowledgeable out there are these differences due to different remap software or just variations in what the different companies claim? - Today

Need a replacement hose, but which one is it???
Wingwalker replied to Wingwalker's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
Hi Jim (N6 JMX), I've emailed the company in Bristol and am now just waiting on a reply (although that was a couple of days ago and I've not heard anything back from them yet). I may just give them a nudge to see if they received my original message. D. -

Hi Lord Lucan, Many thanks for your reply - I didn't realise it was called the engine breather pipe, so that's now given me something to work on which I appreciate thanks. I'll keep everyone updated as I go along... D. -

Hi Scott, excellent, well done you. Hope you are very happy in the world of Jaguar motoring. If height is fine, you may well find a sensor has a fault. N6 JMX

So just to keep you updated that basically I cannot for in an S Type, but I saw a nice XJR LWB that’s been parked at my work for ages and didn’t realise the owner was someone I speak to all the time. I asked whether I could sit in it to find out if fitted and low and behold I can.😋 I went to see an XJ8 yesterday which wasn’t the LWB and guess what, can still fit. So I go and pick her up next week after a dent has been taken out. I got a couple of things to do like one of the rear doors only lock manually, and the air suspension fault comes up after driving 10 minutes which is strange it’s not after starting, the heights are fine and rides well, I’ll have a look at the code when I’ve finally collected her.

Apologies, I had a 2016 Jaguar XF R Sport, 2.0d. Its engine ate itself and I've been without a Jag until last week, when I invested in a 2014 Jaguar XF Sportbrake, 2.2d. Which is why my information request was for the latter, not the former. And, I've been going through the correct fuse diagrams for my model of car, to no avail. None of the functions that have been lost appear accountable by a fuse, however I will check the fuse boards for corrosion before I invest in new components.

Hi Peter, your information may be causing some confusion as you talk about a 2013 Jaguar XF Sportbrake in your initial post, but your profile indicates you have a 2016 XF. These years are in different "model designations" for the XF. The earlier years (2008 - 2014) were X-250, whilst the later years (2015 to end) are the X-260. You need to be clear on which model when searching the net for applicable wiring / fuse diagrams as they will be different. The good news is that there are manuals / diagrams on the net, but most are to purchase a download and fro that you would be best to pay for short term access to the Jaguar TOPIX system, where the information will be correct and uncorrupted. Hi, Thank you for the reply. I trawled through the fusebox documents, for all of them, and really couldn't find a specific fuse for either the rear window wiper or the parking sensors. I was thinking the loom could have a crack or something, but other features, such as the button press open and close function are working fine. If anyone can direct me to the correct location for the relevant relay/fuse I would be grateful, perhaps it is due to the relative scarcity of the Sportbrake model, but there doesn't appear to be any specific diagrams of the fuses for same, in case there are some differences.

Nige005 started following gearbox XK 2010 Gears stuck briefly and wouldnt change up?

A similar problem can be caused if the rotary gear selection switch on the outside of the gearbox is not quite in the correct position. On mine this was caused by hardened grease on the switch. A good clean up and regrease cured it. The fault happened most frequently when changing from "R" to "D," gear would be stuck in either first or second, could never decide which. A clue to check if this is the problem is to look at the lights on the Gear Selector. If the light is not illuminating ( P, D. N. R. etc ) this could be the cause. If this is the case you can move the Gear Selector back and forth, quite forcibly, until the light illuminates indicating the selected gear.

Hi David. This is what I got albeit in a one Litre bottle, about £10 as I remember from eBay a few years ago, lools like the price may have increased now, suprise suprise. It's ready mixed so ready to go. In the pic it looks a bit reddish but mine is orange so I'm assuming this is the same. Just had a QUICK look and found this 5 Litre bottle for about £35 and a 1 Litre bottle for about £17, a more diligent search may find better deals . Hope this helps, cheers, Nige.

Hi Peter, for the rear wiper motor, you can try the Jaguar Classic Parts site to look up part numbers and availability as an original part, or you could contact any of the specialist Jaguar Breakers such as Auto Reserve. I am assuming that you have already checked the fuses for the rear wiper motor - it may be on the same circuit as the rear parking sensors and therefore explain why both are inoperable. If you have the wiper motor out of the car, you could test it on the bench with a 12V power supply or battery, and you could also get along to your local Breakers yard to show them what you are looking for. Chances are it will be common to other vehicles, particularly Land Rover or Ford. Parking sensors will click when operational - put the car in reverse with the ignition on, but obviously don't start the engine, or use an assistant. By listening with the screwdriver / stethoscope method, you should be able to hear the individual sensors clicking away. No click equals not working. If the whole array is silent, check that the sensor is switched on - it can be switched off at the console and of course that the fuse is good. N6 JMX

Hi Geoff, I would suggest that your number plate for sale would best be listed in the "FOR SALE" section of the Forum. One more post to the "Car Care" section and your post disappears from view and folks are hardly going to go looking for on sale items in a car care section when there is an actual For Sale section. Nice did you get something in the end and was it ready mixed with water or to be mixed please?

Nice did you get something in the end and was it a mix with water version or a premixed one please? I have a 2012 XKR and it’s a mine field trying to get the right stuff without forking out at a main dealership.

Hi, I've bought a 2013 Jag XF Sportbrake, but it needs a few repairs to make it perfect. I need to replace the rear wiper motor, and I need to figure out why the rear parking sensors refuse to work. Any advice, or part numbers for the motor? I was hoping, given the provenance of the car, that a more common estate car rear wiper motor might do the trick.

lordlucan replied to Wingwalker's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
Hi David, I’ve had hoses made for me for other models by Derby Performance Hoses. They were surprisingly well priced and they even offered custom colours etc. The last order was a set of silicone hoses for SWB 2006 Mitsubishi Shogun, not exactly a common request, yet they had the tools at hand and were willing to make or adapt tools if they hadn’t. They actually supplied me quicker than the off the peg shops and at much the same price but in the colour of my choice ( I wanted black and all those offered elsewhere were neon so not exactly subtle ) Worth a try. Actually, I just checked. It’s the engine breather pipe and they sell one for the 2.5L V6 for £15 so yours should be similar 🙂
