This is just to conclude this in case anyone is interested. I asked the Jaguar mechanic who performed the latest service and he was able to remove the bolt by hand and it was his opinion that it was an error from the factory. The bolt is a seatbelt bolt but all seatbelt bolts were where they should be so he believed that this would have been dropped inside the bodywork and it just eventually made it's way to the hole in the ceiling of the boot. It wasn't something that he had seen before.

Hello Fellow enthusiasts. Question, would a later model BTooth module (eg. 2012 ECM) work in a 2007 vehicle? This year, my BT cannot connect/pair with phones this year. Maybe the mobile phone IO is too advanced for the current ECM? I have had a service centre reflash the S/W on the unit without resolve. So, am thinking of hunting for a replacement and I believe from 2012 onward, the interface is improved and may work with current mobile phone IOs. Thank you in advance for your help & support. Rick.

Pete Tucker started following XK8 waist trim
-
Hi all, I'm sure this has probably come up before! I recently purchased a 2000 registered XK8 coupe which is in really good condition with only 35k on the clock, but the waist trims on the top of the doors are being lifted by corrosion. Not sure if this is the result of the doors corroding or the strips? Initial search seems to indicate these grey coloured strips aren't available, and replacements seem to be rubber. Anybody with experience of this situation who could advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Pete

Nige005 started following Gearbox Rotary Switch Repair Service
-
Good morning all. Having intermittent problems with the ( I think ) Rotary Switch on the Gearbox, if you select " D " sometimes the " D " light does not illuminate and the gears will not change, seems to be stuck in 1st or 2nd gear. If you move the gear selector around a bit to other positions and then back to " D "the " D " light will come on and then all is well. The problem is intermittent but I think getting worse - it's making me twitch a bit now ! It's possible that the selector cable is sticking or mis adjusted, that was the cause of a similar problem a couple of years ago but I would like to be really sure this time and get the Switch repaired/ refurbished before getting the adjustment done. A brand new switch would be nice but not sure if they are available and dread to think of the price even if they are. I know that some companies offer a repair service for some of the electronics bits like ABS Control Modules etc so does anyone know of a company that offers repairs to these Switches ? Any help or advice gratefully received ! Thanks, Nige.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply and suggestion. Worth considering for sure - if the 'off-the-shelf' option doesn't bear any fruit. -

Hi all I have a 2017 , 3.0 F-pace making a grinding noise on front drivers side, sounds like it is in the light bizarrely, seems to do when engine hot and car stopped not while driving. Anyone got any ideas. Many thanks in advance. Drew PXL_20240511_090602885.mp4

S-Type Rear Door Chrome Frame Finisher 'Odd' Clip
N6 JMX replied to Mr. Dangermouse's topic in Jaguar Technical
Hi Andy, if you don't find any tucked away in someone's hoard, it looks like a prime candidate for 3D printing. Local college would be a decent starting point. I was at the Auto Show at the NEC in January and there were quite a number of folks offering 3D printing as a service. N6 JMX -

S-Type Rear Door Chrome Frame Finisher 'Odd' Clip
Mr. Dangermouse posted a topic in Jaguar Technical
Hi Everyone, Trying to find the clips to fix my 2007 S-Type rear door exterior chrome frame finisher. Initially it was just the trailing edge that had parted company with the door as the tiny x-clips had broken. Think they just age-harden then crack. I managed to get replacement x-clips from Jag dealer (£££), but there is an odd / different clip at the top of the C-post capping which the dealer says is no longer available - see pics. Having removed the finisher to replace the x-clips, the odd clip doesn't want to retain the finisher anymore. If I'd have known, I wouldn't have completely removed finisher....doh! Before I try something drastic like using a good quality sealant adhesive to retain the finisher at that clipping point, though I'd ask a knowledgeable community for advice. Any help appreciated. -

We’ll triumph, Dave lol. Keep me posted on how you get along with everything. The suspension job sounds like a big undertaking, and not one I would relish. Next for me is broken glow plug removal and then full service. I’m praying the heater core doesn’t need to come out. Speak soon, mate. All the best, and give me shout if you need anything. Take care.

That's a weird one, never encountered that before, Hope you manage to get to the bottom of it mate.

I found - what I believed to be coolant - dripping from the Ac pipe, just in front of the transmission, and behind (I think) the power steering hose, that sort of region — at the back of the largest section of the belly pan. However, I took her out recently, for a very aggressive drive, and when I parked up, there was steam(?) billowing out from the left (viewed from driver’s seat) of the engine, no coolant in the expansion tank (lol), and a shi*load of colourless, slightly viscous, scentless liquid pi**ing out of the belly pan, in the region I described previously. I decided it was normal after reading that water is naturally released from the AC system. Seams to me the engine is maybe overheating for some reason. I checked the coolant temp after said drive, and it was only around 95 celsius. I dunno, Dave 🤷🏻♂️ IMG_5013.mov

Hello all, I've sadly had my beautiful 2007 XJ Sovereign written off following being hit broadside by a cross road jumper. if anyone is selling a vehicle that fits the description in the title of this post, or knows of one at one of their local car dealer, I would grateful to hear from you. It's flexible on most except the year range, unless a 2010 is around, black would be an option, not red or white definately and maybe a bit higher mileage if otherwise a match. Thanks.
