Hi everyone, I have a 2002 Jaguar S type and i can get it to start. The key will open to door but when i put the key in the ignition and try to start it the alarm goes off and it wont start. Can someone please tell me what could be happening? I honestly dont know what could be happening. Thank you all.

Welcome to the Club, Geovani.

It does appear to me that you should not be opening the door with the key but with the remote control, which will switch off the built in immobiliser.

Check that the remote control is working and will open and close the door.  If it doesn't you will have to get the key fob reprogrammed by a main dealer.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi. Had same problem with my S type. The battery was low in charge, a new one sorted problem. To test put your battery on charge then try. If all is ok you need new battery. Because of the length of cable from the battery to starter motor there is quite a drop in power available, especially if the battery is showing its age. Don't waste your money on expensive dealer tests, if need be find a good local old fashioned garage with a decent sparky.

Hope this helps, and buy a heavy duty battery it helps a lot, and needn't cost the earth if you look around.

Good advice, Neil.

The issue with batteries on the S Type has come up several times.  There are loads of accessory shops and small garages who will check your battery free of charge.
