Frustrated New Jag Owner

Featured Replies

hi first time on anything like this bit of a dinosaur really! Bought an XKR07 plate 6 months ago had various teething issues since purchase from a main dealer who have seemed to have had the car more than I have. Latest issue is loss of coolant which I was told was some leaky tube apparently common fault across the whole jag range, no one has the part, jag factory has none and apparently it needs to be made, dealer has now had my car for 2 weeks can't get an answer from dealer as to when I am going to get my car back. Very disaapponted in the jaguar brand but what a car when it's running!!!!! Anyone else had this issue.

Welcome to the Club, Pete.

I am very sorry to hear about your problems with your XK.

I do tend not to believe what main dealers tell me.  If you can find the part number it may well be a good idea to find out if you can source the part elsewhere and then tell the main dealer where he can get it from.

Meanwhile you are not enjoying the Jaguar as you should be, and I would be inclined to pester the main dealer.  I would also find out the name of the Chief Executive Officer of the main dealer/group, and pester him too.

Good Luck.

Peter.

Pete,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I agree with Peter , I have found the main dealers of no use whatsoever apart from buying the car from , or part exchange, they tend to talk though their ***** .

Try what Peter said, I'm sure you will find the correct part, and a lot cheaper than the main dealer will.  You could try these:

I hope you get your problems sorted shortly, I have had two jags, the latest being a XKR , and they have been the best cars I have ever had , far, far better than the two Aston Martins i've owned ( you think you've had trouble, don't get me started on Aston Martins )

ATB,

Trevor ( nouveau pensioner)

hi pete welcome to the club. ive not had that problem. to be honest the only probs ive had are parking sensors rear, had 3 replaced kicked up a stink at dealers had the wiring loom all checked and no probs since. but in the rain they can play up a bit it seems to be a prob across the jaguar range . so ive been told. had the rear cluster lights the ones on the boot replaced condensation, they can get the odd gremlin with key fobs batterys,  display saying smart key not found. but really not have mutch probs with mine. better than the dreaded bm x5 i had before it. it was in and out every 2 weeks lost 7and half grand on that over a nine mnth period had egnough and got rid of it got the xk best car ive had. and that includes mercs. service it all me&mate like peter and trevor dont trust the stealerships. that link trevor gave you is whom i got the service kit for mine from their good to deal with. give them a try regards charlie

another one to try is  british parts uk.   independant jaguar& landrover parts specilists. they are in stevenage herts tel 01438 354816 mate says they are first class he used them for landie parts.  charlie

pete. i would be saying to the manager that their service is terrible . and that you can go online and within 5mins get the part. were as you have waited weeks with them. see if you can get a freebie of some kind off them. charlie

Have big words Pete, stealerships are about as useful as Ann Frank's drum kit !

ATB,

Trevor
