I had a 2005 XK8 that was beautiful and I loved. Unfortunately, the teenager who was texting and didn't look up when she rear ended me at 45 mph didn't care how much I loved it. The car was totaled. Now I have found a 2006 XK8 but I've also found a 2009 XF. The XF has 58,000 miles, the XK8 has 23,000. The XK8 is tried and true and I know it well. The XF has a lot of updated amenities that might be a nice change.

Should I be concerned about the higher mileage?

Any thoughts on which is the better car to buy?

In my opinion, unless you need the extra space available in the XF, go for the XK.  While the XF is a fine car, for me it is a no brainer.  The XK wins every time.

A decision only you can make Kip albeit the XK8 is a little sportier in appearance than that of the XF. It obviously depends on your circumstances and how much room you need in a car i.e. the XF offering that extra room whereas the XK8 being designed as a sports car and two passengers. Only you know how much room you need

Kip,

Both excellent cars, I agree with what Kenny says, I wouldn't worry about the mileage too much.

Why not investigate the XFR ?

Welcome to the club, Kip and Jerry.

When I bought my first Jaguar the salesman told me I would never drive another make. He was right.

Both the cars you mention are beautiful cars, and as someone who picks us grandchildren from school once a week, and our daughter from Birmingham international station when she comes to visit I would choose the XF. The XF replaced the S type in 2008.

However, the XK is a real head turner, and a very nice car in its style.

But a couple of days ago I saw an XFR,  a very quick car but still quite a bit rare and could be quite pricey.

Basically, it becomes a personal choice, but please let us know how you go.

Regards

Peter.

Peter,

I think the difference in price between the XF and the XFR is similar to the XK and XKR . But I think both are excellent cars.

The reason I chose the XKR over the F Type (apart from the 5 litre wasn't out then) is because it is a tad more practical.

Have you heard any whisperings at all about supercharger trouble with the F Type?

I'm lucky I never have to pick anyone one up as my nearest relatives are 200 miles away, hence the XKR, I only let the wife in it if she behaves herself .

ATB,

Trevor
