I have been doing a search to replace a rear wheel bearing on a s type, they say cant do it without a press. the local garage wanted £60 to push old out and new one in, cut a long story short, you can change one without a press but don't. my hammer arm is killing me.

Hi David

Sorry thats just the bearing I was thinking it was like the X type that just bolt on

so this is the compeat S type I think ???

Yes Frank its one complete bearing, just brought the car a month ago, it has a scraping sound coming from the rear, so new pads and disc's , I had the left bearing pressed in at a garage for £60, I wasn't paying that so done it myself but what a job, and I still have the scraping noise so its got to be the diff,

Sorry to hear its the diff but you must beable to pick up a good secondhand one quite cheep

well I think thats what I would do ???

That's what I will do, its so annoying when you can find out whats making a noise.

Ok , its the diff making my noise, never heard a diff make that noise before but there is always a first, so its another diff, change its oil and away we go.
